After deliberations lasting long into the night, the US pianist Eric Lu was proclaimed winner of the 2025 Chopin Competition in Warsaw. Lu, 27, won the Leeds International Piano Competition in 2018 and has a busy career with international orchestras. He is, in no sense, a major discovery by the Warsaw competition, which is regarded as the world’s toughest. Ten years ago in Warsaw, he came fourth. If at first you don’t succeed, try, try and try again. Right? Lu said: ‘I’m so grateful for this honour. I’m grateful for all the Chopin lovers around the world who watched online and all the audience here in Warsaw. I’m grateful for the jury to bestow me this honour. This is a dream come true’. Lu leaves with 60,000 Euros and a gold medal. Second prize went to Canada’s Kevin Chen, winner of the 2023 Arthur Rubinstein Competition in Tel Aviv. Zitong Wang from China was awarded third place. The jury was chaired by American pianist Garrick Ohlsson, a former winner. References Visible links: Hidden links: 2. https://slippedisc.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/eric-lu1.jpg
