2025-07-16 No file manager for Oddμ ==================================== Yesterday I added a tiny sentence to the description of my wiki software, in the context of a bunch of features my software wasn't implementing, relying on the web server setup instead: "Not reimplementing these features reduces the attack surface." And now I'm looking at some features and wonder whether they should go, too. Like, what about the tiny file manager to rename and delete files? I already have documentation on how to set up and use WebDAV. Sounds like it could go! And so I removed it. 😲 The recommended way to manage files via a third party tool under Windows is WinSCP. I managed to install it using Wine on Debian, just to make sure that it actually worked. A screenshot of WinSCP in the "commander" layout, an orthodox file manager showing two panes, one with a local directory and one with the remote directory. On my Debian stable laptop, I’ve used Nemo 5.6.4 to connect to the server and edited files using gedit 44.2. That worked as well. A screenshot of gedit editing the index file #Oddμ
