2025-09-20 Aminona, Tièche, Merdechon

Today it was just the two of us and we went for a walk up beyond the
tree line. It was painful for feet and knees to come down again, but
glorious up there.

Looking south towards the Val d’Anniviers from somewhere close to the
Cave du Sex. A dry mountain meadow and the silhouette of mountains in
the background.

We went from Aminona to the Cave du Sex and had our lunch there, then
went up along a waterfall and further along the bisse (an artificial
creek to distribute the water between the mountain meadows away from a
source) to the Tièche.

The valley seems to end at yet another waterfall but there's a way
further up. The bisse takes water from one mountain creek to the next
with little gates along the way. The water rights are strictly
regulated. The last ascent before reaching la Tièche shows the water
digging itself in, with side arms adding more water. The water
creates a little canyon and the walkway is right along side it.

When we reached la Tièche, the world opens up again.

The waterbed is full of white stones in a dry-green meadow with
mountains on all sides. In the far distances, there are some cows.

picture of me taking pictures of flowers. The autumn crocus is on its
way out but occasionally we still saw some beautiful specimens
(Colchicum autumnale).

We walked back along the route de alpage. The first alp is Merdechon.

mushrooms It's getting late and we're walking through the skiing
pistes in late summer. It feels strange to see the infrastructure
standing here, uselessly.

We did see and hear a marmot. 😍
