TIDBITS DIGEST TidBITS-digest is a news service about Apple and Macintosh computers published as HyperCard stacks. The files ending in .hqx are BinHex files and contain the stacks. They can be downloaded as plain ASCII or TEXT files using zmodem, kermit, whatever you usually use. Download Instructions: 1. These are Stuffit files in BinHex files, you will need both utilities on your Mac to properly unpack the stacks. If you need either they are on World in the /sources/macintosh/comm/ directory. 2. Each .hqx file has a mail header, you must remove this before attempting to unBinHex the file. If you get the alert box "No Checksum Error" then you forgot to remove the header. Remove it and try again. You can either remove the header after transferring, with a text editor on the Mac (emacs, qued, textedit, etc) or do it here, before downloading, with one of our text editors (emacs, vi, etc.) Just copy the file to your home directory if you want to edit it, for example: % cp tidbits-53.hqx ~ # that's tilde, your home % cd % emacs tidbits-53.hqx # or whatever editor 3. Unpacking the BinHex yields a .sit (stuffit) archive on your Mac. Launching that should put you in stuffit (or run unstuffit and open the .sit file.) Clicking the document in the stuffit window and choosing Extract (and Save) will put the HyperCard Stack on your disk. The files ending in "_ix02" are indexes to the stacks, plain text files you can look at for topics you might want to download and look at. -yfnsm
