May 27.. And finally, a review (warning: it's not a good one!).. CIRCLE OF DUST, Drexel Univ., Philadelphia, PA Fri May 5 Those of you who have read Soae reviews in the past know how I'm always excited about going to a concert, moshing and jamming out, and leaving feeling blessed and revitalized. I wish I could say I felt that way after seeing CIRCLE OF DUST, but I didn't. Their music was, as always, intense and well-organized, and their stage show was impressive. It was fun stage-diving to them too! But the evening ended with the biggest disappointment I could've faced within a Christian concert: not one word about God was uttered. Not one. It's hard for me to thoroughly enjoy seeing bands like Circle of Dust if, in the end, their mission was not made clear to anyone listening, especially the rather violent bunch slamming and hitting near me. I won't question their status as a Christian band, far from it, but I would've liked to have heard something - anything that would make it plain their reason for being a band. Even if it meant inserting images of Jesus on those TV screens, like they used to years ago, in between the computer graphics, space scenes and cuts from the Discovery Channel. In fact, it's darned ironic that the only band who spoke of the purpose of this entire concert was a local punkish band, CHEESE LOG. An old school punk band who played punk versions of the "Batman" TV show theme alongside "Amazing Grace" and "Blindman" and had been together for only a week! The powerful and popular headliners Circle of Dust said nothing. Their silence only makes the world shout louder. * End of Review * That's it. Next week news of new bands and how badly I miss my best friends from GWU (Basil if you're reading this, ignore the phone message, I found Tom!)..
