# 2025-01-22 Democratizing Tech Initiative ## Focus and Goal The goal of this initiative is to democratize the internet by making self-hosting of internet content easier. This goal overlaps with the goal of SIS, which is to make managing smallnet servers of different smallnet protocols easier. The types of internet content that could use democratizing include: search engines, proxies, media serving and hosting (audio, video, books, etc.), wikis, source code repositories, and textual publications (blogs, microblogging, social networks, etc.). ## AuraGem's Projects All of the components that make up AuraGem will be split into their own SCGI servers in their own open-sourced repositories so others may use them. These include: * AuraMuse - Music hosting, sharing, and Radio livestreaming over smallnet protocols, replacing AuraGem Music. (Also support song lyrics?) * AuraProxy - Proxies YT, Twitch, Github, Whether, and religious texts (Sefaria, Christian Texts, and Islam texts, among others) * AuraAsk - Q/A capsule, replacing AuraGem Ask * AuraChat - Live Chat over Gemini and other smallnet protocols, replacing AuraGem Live Chat * AuraSearch - A Search Engine with Crawler, replacing AuraGem Search Some new projects will also be launched: * AuraBBS - A BBS system over smallnet protocols * AuraWiki * JellyGem - A Jellyfin replacement, for smallnet protocols (with support for DLNA, RTMP, HLS, etc.). (Add a way to collect xmltv Guide data, and support for IPTV stuff?) * AuraTube - A Video hosting service for smallnet protocols (with support for RTMP? and HLS?) * AuraRepo - Git/Mercurial * AuraTorrent - torrent tracker, database, and search (and possibly SeedBox?) * AuraPress - a blogging system for smallnet protocols that requires no manual handling of files, directories, or scripts. Uses Titan for blog data upload. You can find all of these on my Gitlab: => https://gitlab.com/clseibold/ My Gitlab ## Dealing with AI In an attempt to deal with AI and it's potential misinformation (and "hallucination") side effects, AuraGem Search (and therefore AuraSearch) will use a tool to detect whether a text has been AI generated. Knowing whether something is generated by AI helps you make informed decisions about what content should be taken at face-value.
