NAKED THOUGHTS I talk about my nudist tendencies but never have written a post specifically about the subject. It's not really founded on an interesting philosophy but just a preference I've had since I was a child, secretly stripping off in my bedroom or when my parents were out. Nevertheless I could propose that there is a mental barrier that clothes errect between yourself and the world, and I have a natural distaste for such false frontages. By covering up, you deny yourself in a way, disguising yourself as a creature of society, fitting your physical form into a defined social image, even at home. Mentally it makes you separate yourself from your body, the latter burried under cloth, senses underneath separated from the world. I can't see how that's healthy, you need to see yourself to accept youself as you are, not some ideal of naked humans presented on screen or paper. Alternatively, it crosses my mind that it might just be a symptom of my sexual frustration - some sub-conscious idea that if I hang around naked it'll be easier to have sex, even though there are no women anywhere near. I doubt it, but I do get turned on a lot more when I'm naked at home, day dreaming about women. Too often lately, really. Even besides those times, I generally find it's more comfortable with my genitals out and about in warm weather or while doing physical activity. I think it's evident that heat radiates from there more than most other areas and covering ones dick and balls up has a similarly significant effect to wearing socks or gloves on a hot day. Letting them out in the air makes a big difference. Last summer I hardly had the A/C on at all, and of course it avoids wearing out clothing too, the tearing of which is really wasted money when you didn't need to wear anything in the first place (or even turned up your A/C so you could!). The same also holds for physical exercise, and although running with my penis flopping around took some getting used to, I find it more comfortable now for the same reason, cooling the body down. Not that I otherwise feel my balls are boiling during a run, but I feel hotter overall without airflow cooling my genitals down as my body warms up. The same for any hard physical work, and now I often strip off for working on cars in warmer weather, which also just makes it more fun I think, and the grease washes off skin easier than from clothes. It's limited to things done in the shed or at night though, as the cost and inconvenience of sunscreen required in the warmer months makes it impractical to be naked regularly in daylight, even though I live mainly out of sight in the middle of nowhere. My one departure from only being naked in the middle of nowhere has been my relatively recent embrace of the nudist beach, two of very few official public clothing-optional places being a relatively short drive away. I've got comfortable being naked in public pretty easily. Though there's still my natural aversion to other people which tends to encourage me towards empty parts of the beach for most of the time, after undressing near the entrance. Even where being naked is accepted I'm conscious of enjoying things like climbing over the mounds of erroded rocks that nobody else seems to do except clothed people looking for fossils. Of course it's a bit harder avoiding clothes over winter, although last year I stayed in the habit of stripping off at the start of each evening, to tuck in under blankets on the couch where the reverse-cycle A/C is pointed. Then eventually I brave entering the unheated bedroom. My pre-bed push-up routine warms me up again nicely after before jumping into bed. In the daytime I layer up with clothes so I don't usually have to run the heating if there's some warmth coming from the sun room, but with the rise of solar power generating surplus electricity during the day, apparantly the Australian government is mandating three hours of free electricity during every day later this year, caled the "Solar Sharer Program". I'm skeptical about the wisdom of this strategy overall, but if it's realised that means in winter It'd be cheaper running heating to get the house as hot as I can stand during those three hours in the day, then turning it off and hoping it stays fairly warm into the evening (which I think it will). Obviously then I'll have much more time naked in winter, with the house as warm as summer from the middle of the day, then warm enough under blankets in the evening. It doesn't start in my state until October (somehow the Victorian state government is today announcing this themselves as their "Midday Power Saver" programme even though the federal government already announced the same national plan to start in July, but first beginning in other states), so actually it'll miss winter this year. But it's usually still cold in October so I'm looking forward to trying it then. I'm not sure how long it'll last once everyone's cranking up their heating on wet, cloudy, October days when solar panels aren't really generating much power though... https://www.energy.gov.au/news/solar-sharer-offer-cut-electricity-bills https://www.9news.com.au/national/victorians-offered-three-hours-of-free-energy-every-day-under-state-government-plan/96f48f67-c1dd-4831-8fcc-9236d184d291 Of course I also thought about crypto mining, but it seems even with unlimited free electricity for three hours a day the cost of the hardware still doesn't really present a worthwhile ROI anymore. - The Free Thinker
