if you start mystic like

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=<location> mis server

and if it honors that, you can put it wherever you want without affecting
other software on the system that might mistakenly find it and try to use it.. 
since in general not running up-to-date crypto libraries is kinda bad.

that also means you can cram it in a bbs related folder that you'd be more 
inclined to back up vs the base os junk :)
