Add fenugreek seeds and asafoetida and stir for 1 minute. Saute onion until soft. Add turmeric, chili, and salt, and mix well. Blend in pumpkin cubes and stir for another 2 minutes. Add water, cover, and cook on low heat for 5 minutes. Uncover, stir, and cover again. Cook this process until all water is absorbed.
