Bush also called NASA a ``national treasure.'' Too bad it's not getting enough help from the national treasury! Among those at breakfast today were Ken Mattingly and Hank Hartsfield. Try to remember those names as they were the backup crew for STS-2 and, although it has not yet been officially designated, probably will be the crew for STS-3, in March, 1982. Tomorrow, Engle and Truly will start a week of debriefings, in which engineers in charge of all the ship's systems will ask them what happened and what, if anything, could and should be done to improve the shuttle. Nine days after that, Engle and Truly will hold a press conference. ------------------------- Now, it has been asked of me what will happen to net.columbia now that STS-2 has landed. NOTHING! Remember, net.columbia is for the ENTIRE space program (and others' space programs), not just the shuttle. Of course, the shuttle will remain a main part of net discussion, but the volume of information has already drastically curbed (and will grow again a few weeks before STS-3). Good topics now would be shuttle related applications, e.g. colonies in space, space factories, etc., and the results of experiments on STS-2 (all experiments collected some data.) However, if there is any news or comments or ANYTHING that pertains to any other aspect of space, it has a definite place here! --Adam ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
