Here, however, are some clues: Subscription Newsgroups it matches net.ALL anything beginning "net." (e.g. net.news.davy) net.news net.news, or anything beginning "net.news." fa fa, or anything fa.ALL matches. fa,!fa.news,fa.news.davy Anything fa but not fa.news matches, and anything fa.news.davy matches. Net.news is the sub-newsgroup "news" within the newsgroup "net". Anyone who subscribes to net.news subscribes to anything below it, such as net.news.davy. On a related note, net.v7-bugs is an upstart. Someone should mail notes chastising the offender(s), and suggest they remove lines containing "ALL" from their .ngfile. Or just be apathetic and submit the article to both newsgroups: news -i yet another silly bug -n net.v7bugs net.v7-bugs
