Awivax.118 net.unix-wizards utzoo!decvax!wivax!dyer Wed Apr 7 23:01:35 1982 F77 for 11/70's without FPP I was in the process of performing several benchmarks on F77 on different processors, and was all ready to try an 11/70 without a FPU. Unfortunately, the scheme used by PDP-11 UNIX to support floating-point emulation will not run when the program is linked split I/D. My benchmark program doesn't need I/D, but f77pass1 sure does. I am using this 11/70 only by the good graces of its owners, and cannot muck with the kernel to support a "fetchi" system call, not can I cut the jumper on the Mem Mgt board to allow "mfpi" to work. Has anyone already solved this problem? Either shrinking f77 to avoid I/D or modifying the compiler to directly call the emulator would do. Please post your responses to either: "decvax!wivax!dyer" or "sdyer@bbn-unix" Thanks. ----------------------------------------------------------------- gopher://quux.org/ conversion by John Goerzen of http://communication.ucsd.edu/A-News/ This Usenet Oldnews Archive article may be copied and distributed freely, provided: 1.
