This gopher space is dedicated to popularization of forgotten non-commercial Internet services, such as Gopher, Archie, WAIS, online library catalogs accessed via telnet, etc., along with DIY and underground art. Most information here is currently in Russian but many different languages are planned. The server (Bucktooth) runs at my work on a Window$ machine under Cygwin. It is also available via gophermail (gopher@mail.rp.spb.su). Searches are possible with Veronica. I do not consider this gopher just as a monument to the past of the Internet or some historical archive. Moreover, I try as much as possible to make it up-to-date and useful - not only for computer developers and hackers like many modern gopher resources but for all the people who aren't satisfied with commercial nature of modern World Wide Web. Also I'm planning to install and run: - a WAIS server (to make full-text searches) - a CSO nameserver - Jughead (to search gopher) - Isite (to search HTML) - a Dict server - an archie server would also be great - telnet with access to Stauropygial records catalogue, Cherry Hopkins Publishers catalogue etc. Unfortunately I cannot do all of this now because I need a UNIX machine with permanent Internet connection and I do not have one yet. If someone can help me please contact. To get in touch please email to rp@freeshell.org or write to: Roman Pavlov Kommunalnaja 11-48 Pskov 180007 Russia Thank anyone who uses gopher! .
