November Presentation: John Sechrest, Drupal -(posted: 09 Sep 2005)-
Title: The Drupal Content Management System
    Presenter: John Sechrest
Time: Saturday, November 5th, 1:00 PM
Place: EWEB Board Room, 500 E. 4th Ave.

As you work on activities and businesses, the website that you have needs to mirror/reflect the ongoing activity of the group. The more that the website is a model for the activity, the more effective the web site will be.

Over the last 4 years there has been an explosion of Content Management Systems (CMS) for web sites. A Content Management System allows groups of people to use web pages to edit and manage a web site. There are dozens and dozens of different types of CMS packages. Enough to generate websites that compare them like:

    http://www.opensourcecms.com
    http://www.cmsmatrix.org

Over the last six months, several sites have needed help with web services. This talk will go over several of the features that make a good content management system and will talk about some of the ways that Drupal can be extended.

Drupal is the CMS that currently runs the Corvallis LUG website at

    http://www.lug.corvallis.or.us

Come learn more about how Drupal does what it does.

After the talk, we will adjourn to the Steelhead Brewery for drinks and discussion.

Important EUGLUG information

Meetings and Clinics
EUGLUG holds weekly clinics every Thurday evening, roughly 6:30 to 9:00pm. We are currently seeking a permanent home for them. The clinics are informal and serve as the club's meeting and community outreach. All are welcome and bringing your hardware/software issues is encouraged.
Joining EUGLUG
EUGLUG is an informal, eclectic group of Unix/Linux/Open Source enthusiasts without a formal membership process. Much like the criteria for Oregon residency, if you think of yourself as a EUGLUG member, you are! That said, an organization is only as good as its members: when individuals contribute, everyone benefits.
EUGLUG Thanks...
  • Willamette.Net for the bandwidth and colocation of our server.
  • Oregon Public Networking for the meeting space.
  • All those folks who've volunteered their time for past, present, and future efforts, events and presentations.
