I decided to bring out the SL-5500 this evening since it has
been a several months since I have done anything with it. It
does have a thumb keyboard, which I am using, but typing on
it is pretty slow. For some reason it seems slower than I
remembered from back when it was my daily driver. I seem to
recall typing faster on before. Then again, I am typing with
       my thumbs.

It is a shame that I am not using it as much in recent years
as I would have liked. I think I will try using it more on a
regular basis and try to rotate through them so I don't feel
so bad about not using them much.

When I brought out the Zaurus earlier today, it had no juice
so I charged it for a bit. It booted fine and seemed to be
ok. I will probably have to replace the battery sometime in
the near future. I should probably run some capacity tests.

Man, I really miss this device! I forgot about all of the
features I used to love about this device! This device was
my first exposure to the Zaurus with Linux on it...the
previous ones were more like organizers/address books...an
       upgrade to the Wizard devices.

The first one I saw out in the wild was at one of the old
Palm User Group meetings. This guy had a 5500 like this one
and also a Palm device. I thought it was strange that he
carried 2 PDAs at the time. I asked him about it and he said
that he used the Palm as an organizer and the Zaurus as a
computer since it ran Linux! Can you believe it?! Then he
proceeded to show me the cool features. After that I started
looking into those devices and finally got my own. It still
amazes me how ahead of their time they were.

I am reminded of a book someone wrote awhile back that was
written on the Zaurus and featured the Zaurus in the story.
It was called Z4CK. I should look for it.

Well, enough of thumb typing on this tiny hardware keyboard
       for now.
