+++ Monday 29 December 2025 +++ Some parts of the web are still fine ==================================== Most of us see the Gopher sphere is the last place of refuge. We often talk and write about the demise of the World Wide Web. Search engines have become useless, the web is overflowing with SEO-, JavaScript-, and surveillance marketing garbage. We are drowned in AI slop. The web has devolved into a hellhole, and appears to exist solely for big corporate profits. It all depends on where you look. There are still plenty of fantastic websites. People make the most wonderful things, which might be wacky, quirky, an oasis of tranquility, an explosion of colors, and so on. Creators express themselves through art, long reads, or brief poems. Some sites are extremely informational, others are very personal, some are simply for fun, or a combination of that all. Discoverability --------------- The problem is of course, how to find those fantastic websites. Let's help each other to discover them. Everything you can do to help to discover those small websites and blogs is worthwhile. Become a member of webrings, or make one. Distribute links and feeds. Spread the word about RSS-readers. Create a search engine. Whatever you can think of helps. Last edited: $Date: 2025/12/29 12:54:43 $
