+++ Friday 21 February 2025 +++ TIL less -w to highlight first unseen line ========================================== Today I learned from a friend about the wonderful option `-w' in less. This is how the man page describes it: -w or --hilite-unread Temporarily highlights the first "new" line after a forward movement of a full page. The first "new" line is the line immediately following the line previously at the bottom of the screen. Also highlights the target line after a g or p command. What is basically does is, when you scroll through a file with `less', it highlights the first line that you haven't seen yet. Once you have used this, you'll will never run less without it. Just try it! Last edited: $Date: 2025/02/21 17:11:43 $
