factory in the universe still makes and it's milk based or
something. honestly it sounds pretty gross but waaaayy in the past

 I promised you guys the positive update,
 so here I am... don't ask why I'm up so
 late ijbol

 About... I think it's been around a week
 now? We were finally able to get an
 appointment with the prosthetist for SASHA.
 We thought it would be a lot more complicated
 than it was but it was actually fairly simple?
 Goes to show how little we all know about
 medicine and doctors...

 We don't have the actual prosthesis for him
 yet but we did pay upfront. Since they
 require that. Is this sketchy or is this
 normal doctor things? I don't think any of
 us have ever really seen a doctor until now.

 While we wait on them to actually produce the
 thing, which supposedly will take only a few
 more days to finish(?!), we've been trying to
 have as much fun as is possible on a planetwide
 medbay. There REALLY isn't much to do around here.
 We've sort of had to make our own entertainment.
 SASHA has insisted on cooking for us multiple
 times as well despite our insistence that he
 should rest. Injury be damned my boy can work
 a grill. That was the best meal we've had
 since... well, since before he was injured.

 Everything feels like it's slowly getting
 back to normal. SASHA looks a little different
 because of the scars but I don't think any of
 us care. HOUND has been spending a lot more time
 with him, which is something I didn't think was
 possible seeing how much time they already spend
 together. I swear, since we almost lost SASHA it's
 been impossible to pry HOUND from his side.

 I think we have hope again, though to be fair I
 doubt we ever truly lost it to begin with. More
 like a stammer, I guess.

 ...however, HOUND's paranoia that the coolant
 leak may not have been an accident has
 strengthened, and it's spread to EVIE as well.
 I'm not entirely sure where I stand on all that,
 but... I don't feel strongly either way. I think
 it's possible but unlikely. Who could possibly
 have it out for us that badly? We barely even
 know any others outside our crew.

so, i was able to get my coords tracker working properly with
methods that were definitly within apetlune's terms of usage. it's
nice having it actually render the last number. we should reach
port at our destination on the next log date assuming all goes
well. i'm excited to finally have all this ranch off of my ship.
speaking of, what even is ranch? i didn't ask questions when
picking up the delivery but i can't say i've heard of the item
prior. ☕ tells us that it's gross without going into much more
detail aside from that it is intended to be consumed. maybe those
we deliver it to can let me know. that's all for this log date.
on the next i will, hopefully, be able to tell you all what ranch
is.

i looked into the firmware update and apparently the company that
makes my navbox, apetlune, has discontinued support and updates
for this model, the apetlune nav 3. i might take a look at third
party firmware to see if anyone else has made a version that fixes
this bug. until then i guess my tracker display will just have a
large number of nines (9s) in it.

First off: yes, we missed the cycle-start status update. For that you can 
blame Buck, our almost-three-legged disaster of a dog. To be fair, it's 
not even his fault, poor thing. Two weeks ago, while trying to fix 
his busted leg, I managed to slice my hand open on a jagged metal plate. 
Turns out that improvised cybernetics + low veterinary skills = recipe 
for disaster. Thanks to my wife my hand is much better now, 
but the dog's leg... not so much. Maybe it's bad luck. 
Maybe it's just the Universe's way of telling us to stop messing with 
scrap metal. Maybe this dog is just cursed. Either way, looks like he will 
have to adapt, just like any of us here.

Today's adventure: cleaning the air vents. Winter's coming, so we fired up 
the heating system for a pre-operational check, and surprise! All of the 
ventilation ducts turned out to be clogged with borzonium crystals. 
We thought that borzonium molecules existed only in their solid form, in
the soil of Nascaria IV. We were wrong: a small part evaporates with the
(scarce) sun, and when exposed to extreme heat, it condenses in this 
glittery toxic (and sticky) sludge. 
(Pro tip: don't inhale. We learned the hard way.) 
It took almost all day to scrub the system clean, but the damage was 
already done: the heating unit's dead. 
We've already filed a replacement request, fingers crossed it gets here 
before we freeze.

This is HRVST Farming Unit-59, again. 
We didn't get any delivery confirmation after our last message,
so we still aren't sure if this thing is working or not.
Surprisingly though, just hours after our transmission we got a hefty
supply drop a couple clicks away from our module. Is it Christmas already?
Given the sludge depth after two days of heavy rain, reaching it was quite
a challenge: we had to use horses** to get there.

Something rather odd happened, too. Near the drop site, hidden in a pile of
space junk - we get a lot of that too on Nascaria IV, it must be a favorite
hotspot for ships to get rid of their trash - we found a beaten up cryopod 
with a living dog inside. A real dog! Could you believe it? 
We've seen a lot of synthetic ones, but never an organic specimen.
Could it be a remnant of some ancient space mission? Or maybe part of a 
long-dead crew, wrecked in the depths of space? We managed to wake him up,
and despite his right front leg being busted, he seemed pretty lively.
My wife says it could be a pup, less than one year old, but we're not 
equipped for this kind of veterinary diagnostic (well, not even
for human medical diagnostic, indeed). He had a collar and a tag 
with the word "FOOTER" engraved on it, only. What kind of name is that?
Is it even a name? Wife insisted we needed a dog (for what??) and since
there's no point in arguing we're going to keep him. We decided to name
him "BUCK": we feel like it's a better suiting name. 
I know that "finders, keepers", but can we actually keep him? After all
he came from a cryopod, he must be someone's. Is it even legal?
And what about contaminations? Well, I guess it's too late for that.
I've reviewed our contract and nowhere in the 278 pages dogs are ever
mentioned. We will have to wait for an official answer from the
company on this. In the meantime, I'll try fixing up his leg with some
sort of makeshift cybernetic implant. I'm just an IT guy, but I'll do my
best.

P.S. If we can keep him, is there any kind of dog food you could send us
with the next drop? We realized we have no clue what kind of stuff they
eat. If only he could feed on this freaking borzonium mud...

This is HRVST Farming Unit-59 conducting a standard QEC diagnostic test.
We just finished fixing the QEC terminal after the last ion storm fried it
and we have no idea if its transmission capabilities are operational.

PLEASE CONFIRM RECEIPT.

Also, while we're at it: any updates on the next orbital supply drop?
Last one was 8 cycles ago. Or maybe it was 10?
Anyway, not complaining. Just asking. Ok, maybe just slightly complaining.

  We arrived at Dwarf-67B 3 rotations ago. It seems
  like a nice place for the most part, but everything
  feels rather... cold and medical. Apparently it's a
  planet whose sole purpose is to serve as a medical
  outpost, which would explain why we were told to
  come here. 

  It's not a big planet by any means. It's really
  more of the size of an asteroid, though I
  suppose that's why it's known as a dwarf planet
  in the first place. The place is essentially
  just one large medical mall. There are very few
  normal stores, and the only residences we've
  seen are tall apartment towers where, presumably,
  mostly medical professionals live.

  I can't help but think that this would be a boring
  place to spend your life. But, hey, seems they
  make a lot of money...

  Our crew is currently in a sort of waiting line
  to get an appointment with a prosthetist.
  The soonest that they could fit us in isn't until
  at least a few days from now. So... we're waiting
  for a call back on EVIE's mobile. Stars know when
  that will be. We were told it shouldn't be more
  than a week of a wait. This still feels
  ridiculous though.
