Prince Harry doesn't invite third cousin to wedding

Gasp, Prince Harry didn't invite his third cousin, Lady Amelia
aka the Most Beautiful Royal, to his wedding.
The fact that this is news makes me laugh. I don't even know who
my third cousins ARE. (Although I definitely get that it's
important to keep track of this for purposes of succession if
you're royalty.)
But maybe there's royalty etiquette I don't know about that
actually DOES make this a snub, rather than just keeping the
guest list manageable? Anyone know?

I've been keeping up with the news on the wedding and haven't
been able to find enough details to decide either way. Their
venue is quite a bit smaller than the one used by William & Kate
- that's the official reason that political folk are not invited
and could well be why they had to cut some family. But I'm only
speculating on the family part. The royal family is all about
protocol, so I'd be surprised if they would deliberately deviate
from the rules. I'm sure we'll hear quite a bit more in the news
over the coming days!

I guess beauty really is in the eyes of the beholder because I
wouldn't say she's the most beautiful royal... I wouldn't pick
any royal as "most" beautiful. And why do they pick that as the
point on which to hang the headline? They sure do scrounge for
stuff to write about, don't they.

Does he even know this girl and her sister? I mean how many
people actually know their third cousins, much less consider it
a faux pas for not inviting them to their wedding.

The story reads like it was written by "Lady Amelia" in order to
promote herself as "most beautiful" and to further her career.

:D :D Who is this "friend"? And the speculation that Harry
didn't invite her so she wouldn't upstage the bride. How
ridiculous. Again, sounds like it was written by Amelia herself!

I don't know any of my second or third cousins. On the Find a
Grave web site, I was doing some research on my grandfather. I
found the page for his mother, on which a person I've never
heard of made entries. She identified herself as a great
granddaughter, and I contacted her to give her some missing
information, also identifying myself as a great granddaughter of
the same lady. We've never met, and probably never will. It
wouldn't be unusual or remarkable at all that I don't invite
relatives I don't know to my wedding. Why would we expect that
from England's royal family?

I know my 2nd, 3rd and 4th cousins. Son1 is engaged and
thinking of a destination wedding since that'll be less
expensive than having it in hometown. The "immediate" family
easily hits 70. That's not counting all of the cousins. And
she also has a big family.
I love Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. They make an adorable
couple. I'm gonna TRY to wake up at 3am so we will see.

It’s safe to say Harry does know these people since the extended
family would have been in attendance at many many events Harry
also attended. He may not be close to them though.
The issue here is whether this is a state event. If yes, it’s a
political decision. If no, there’s freedom but one still must be
mindful of any fallout.

It is not a state wedding. PM Theresa May, and a slew of both
present and former politicians, both British and otherwise, were
not invited.
