I like that (supposedly) Prince Harry insisted on inviting Sarah
Ferguson, who is on the outs with the royal family but he wanted
her there.
Oh, did he? I thought I'd heard she wasn't going to be invited,
and I was bummed.
Because I can totally see her and Harry getting along.
She was invited to the ceremony, and possibly the first
after-event, but not the evening reception. I believe.

Oh my goodness, all the "cousins" and relatives coming out of
the rafters would drive me insane. I'm glad that they had some
control over something that was so utterly over the top and so
many people clamoring to get into the event.
It's amazing how many people like to try to make this all about
them "We saw each other once at a family event in 2001!", oh
please.

Beauty sure is subjective.

Ha, oh my. If they hadn't wanted anyone there who was "too
beautiful" then they wouldn't have invited George and Amal,
among others! (not that I'm saying any of them are "better
looking" than Meghan, just that this one cousin hardly stands
out among the many beautiful people at that wedding!)

I agree, sounds like a publicity release. the "most beautiful
royal" title sounds like something her publicist dreamed up.

The story reads like it was written by "Lady Amelia" in order to
promote herself as "most beautiful" and to further her career.
A friend said:
“Amelia is creating quite a name for herself with her modelling
and Instagram posts.
“Perhaps Harry just wanted to keep the family invited to a small
number or maybe he didn’t want anyone upstaging the bride.”
:D :D Who is this "friend"? And the speculation that Harry
didn't invite her so she wouldn't upstage the bride. How
ridiculous. Again, sounds like it was written by Amelia herself!

IRRC, she was named the most beautiful royal by the Tatler
magazine, which seems to be a lot like Vanity Fair.

and what a lesson jazzgirl205's story is about making
assumptions.
Her mom thought it would be impolite to invite them; they
thought it impolite to be left out.
A lesson for us to leave room for the possibility that other
people might mean well
In my experience with weddings, no matter whom you invite or
don't invite, there will be some who thought they should have
been invited and weren't, and some who will scratch their heads
upon receiving the invitation and think, "wonder why they
invited me!"
So best policy IMO is just to invite the people that the couple
and family who they deem important want there and not fret too
much about it. Particularly with a high profile event like this,
you gotta know there's always going to be a lot of chatter about
who got left off the guest list!

I don't know any of my second or third cousins. On the Find a
Grave web site, I was doing some research on my grandfather. I
found the page for his mother, on which a person I've never
heard of made entries. She identified herself as a great
granddaughter, and I contacted her to give her some missing
information, also identifying myself as a great granddaughter of
the same lady. We've never met, and probably never will. It
wouldn't be unusual or remarkable at all that I don't invite
relatives I don't know to my wedding. Why would we expect that
from England's royal family?
When I got married in the 80s, my mother would not invite any
relatives that we had not seen in 10 years (especially since
most lived within 2 hours drive). It just seemed to her to be
begging for gifts. Well, there were a lot of relatives who were
upset about not being invited (even though they probably would
not have recognized me on the street).
Since it had been 10 yrs since your family has seen them, I
can't but wonder what family events they had had that they
didn't invite your family.

It's common knowledge that if a piece of media gossip is
attributed to an anonymous "friend", that's code for "we just
made it up". I would place a very sizeable bet that the Sun
(notorious British red-top rag that originally ran the story)
wanted a Megan-and-Harry-wedding story that would justify some
"hot girl" pics - the Sun is (in)famous for its reliably high
quotient of girl pictures - and invented this lame snippet by
way of excuse.
FWIW, Harry has more than 20 third cousins just on the Queen's
father's side of the family. He also has third cousins on his
Spencer mother's side; a raft of Greek, Danish and Spanish royal
third cousins on his grandfather Prince Philip's side; and
third cousins on his Bowes-Lyon great-grandmother's (the Queen
Mum's) side. Heaven knows how many he has in total, but they
must be well into three figures. None of any of them was invited
to the wedding, and I don't imagine they expected for a moment
that they would be.
