       New, possibly temp-to-hire job!
By: MarisaWood Date: July 12, 2019, 5:09 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
I started a new job yesterday! The official job title is
"Raiser's Edge Admin," and it's an admin assistant role at a
blood bank with some database admin responsibilities. I'll be
       adding and updating records in the database; running reports;
and sending acknowledgment letters to donors.
Best of all, the job pays well (more than my last year at Head
Start, when I was an HR department head); has flexible hours; is
less than a mile from home, so I can walk to work; and is a
potential temp-to-hire job depending on how good my "fit" for it
       turns out to be!
I just got the word about it earlier this week--and I cried
tears of relief when I heard I'd gotten the job. Having this
kind of income will change a lot of things for me pretty
quickly; I'll be able to pay off some debt and visit my mom in
Michigan a lot sooner than planned, and replace my old laptop
with a newer and better one. (The old one died a little over a
week ago, and I've been using an ancient Mac I got from a
neighbor since then, until I can afford a replacement. Hence
not being on as often as in the past.)

       Brilliant news, Waterlight!
I hope it becomes permanent very soon...
I remember getting a well-paid temp job and clearing
insomnia-inducing debts within a couple of months, and then
actually being able to afford a holiday; it's a nice feeling,
       isn't it. ;D

Congratulations on your new job! It sounds like it came along
just at the perfect time. Hopefully it will quickly become a
       permanent one for you.

I accidentally did that. I worked as a temp, then a position
opened up and the company I was working bought my contractt. I
was there for 5 years until a job I was volunteering in decided
       to hire me .
       Good luck!

       I think we're off to a good start :) I just bought a new
Chromebook with some of the proceeds from the new job, so I
should be on more often. But that's not the latest update on
       the new job.
Latest update: I just had my first performance evaluation on
the new job--and got "Exceeds Expectations" in all categories!!!
Additional comment after all those "Exceeds Expectations"
checked boxes: "[Waterlight] is a delight to work with. She is
       focused, driven, and enthusiastic."

       Ooh, you 'go girl'!
And please do come here more often!! I'm aware that I
'over-post', but I love this community, and want threads that
move along [not die out after two die-hard posters have had
their say ;)], so it's 'the more the merrier' as far as I'm
       concerned.
Also: we love hearing happy endings! So, "over-achiever, please
       keep it up". ;D
