Update reply #1 0 By: MarisaWood Date: July 28, 2018, 7:06 pm --------------------------------------------------------- After being unemployed for one very scary week, I'm working again... at a housing nonprofit I previously temped at for six months! I'm replacing someone who just quit this past Wednesday. Without going into too much detail, the job's considered a critical part of the agency's "asset management" work--so they wanted "someone good." When they found out I was available, they specifically asked for... ME! This housing organization was my first choice for a next assignment because: 1) they pay well; 2) they treat their employees well; 3) three good friends of mine happen to live in properties owned by the organization, so I've seen firsthand the good work they do in the community! And it feels really good to know I was their first choice for this assignment too. #Post#: 9893-------------------------------------------------- Re: New temp gig - previous employer wanted me back! Would you want it to? #Post#: 9896-------------------------------------------------- Re: New temp gig - previous employer wanted me back! Could this turn into a permanent job? Would you want it to? [/quote] They have a history of hiring temps on as permanent employees, so yes, it could! The guy who trained me for my first assignment there ended up being brought on permanently after 8-9 months as a temp. And yes, I would love it if they brought me on permanently! The pay and benefits are good, and the agency culture is in line with what I'd be looking for: someplace where people build each other up and respect each other, and where hard work is much appreciated. #Post#: 10002-------------------------------------------------- Re: New temp gig - previous employer wanted me back! By: DaDancingPsych Date: September 6, 2018, 9:36 am --------------------------------------------------------- I remember a few posts about your situation, so this is an exciting update! You are going to knock their socks off (again!) #Post#: 22262-------------------------------------------------- Re: New temp gig - previous employer wanted me back! By: MarisaWood Date: December 26, 2018, 7:53 am --------------------------------------------------------- And another update: The temp assignment was originally going to last through the end of October (they thought), but it's just been extended a third time, through the end of January! I won't be applying for this job permanently, since the perm role really requires driving and I don't have a license--but I have a couple of promising leads from other department heads at the agency for jobs that don't require driving, and both the temp agency and my current assignment supervisor have encouraged me to apply if something comes up! #Post#: 22264-------------------------------------------------- Re: New temp gig - previous employer wanted me back! By: Chez Miriam Date: December 26, 2018, 8:21 am --------------------------------------------------------- That's great news, and fingers crossed for finding another (permanent) role that doesn't require you to drive. ***************************************************** DIR Next Page
