"We're not seeing is the political will to take that seriously." "There doesn't really appear to be any near solutions in the near term, which is really worrisome." #Post#: 5670-------------------------------------------------- Re: Medical Matters By: jsmth321 Date: June 16, 2022, 4:03 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Low cost dentists are more honest I beleive and by low cost, I mean the offices that cater to lower income people, people without insurance, people with disability insurance etc. Went to a dentist in 2019 in Vancouver told I needed to have 2 wisdom teeth pulled, needed to have 2 fillings replaced, and 2 teeth filled and list of work the dentist claimed was necessary. Today got an exam done at the low cost dentist, he says teeth look good, may want to consider a cleaning, old fillings are fine no need to replace, gums look healthy, and x-rays show nothing abnormal. Wife went to a dentist last year said she needed 8 fillings, turns out she only needs 1 filling. It's long been known dentists pad the bill to maximize insurance, but really it's pretty unethical in my opinion to paid bills with unecessary work. #Post#: 5683-------------------------------------------------- Re: Medical Matters By: jsmth321 Date: June 17, 2022, 2:22 am --------------------------------------------------------- "Our emergency departments are under more stress than I've ever seen in my career," said Dr. Howard Ovens, who has worked in the ER at Toronto's Mount Sinai Hospital for nearly 40 years and chairs the province's emergency services advisory committee." My GP is having to retire at the end of this month as she has cancer... she's been my GP for 20 years and the best I've ever had. Trying to find a new GP is problematic - the one she has referred her patients to has a not very good reputation, which makes me reluctant to go to him. #Post#: 5762-------------------------------------------------- Re: Medical Matters / Health Matters (split from Random Stuff) By: jsmth321 Date: June 27, 2022, 11:44 am --------------------------------------------------------- Nova Scotia man died after not being able to get heart surgery in a timely manner. HTML https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/cancer-patient-treatment-delays-1.6497961 I could in theory be walking around with cancer, the reason for the GI refferal is to get an endoscopy of my esophagus to look for cancer, been like 6-7 months now, even GP is like this is taking way too long and has sent refferals to other GI doctors to try and get it sped up. Kamloops is one of the harder hit hospitals nurse shortage wise, they have had to at times close sections of the hospital due to no nurses to staff.
