US President Joe Biden Drops Out of 2024 Presidential Race

Biden drops out of presidential race, he has endorsed Vice
President Harris.
While currently all states give automatic ballot access to the
candidates running for one of the big 2 parties, there is some
concern some states may try and block whoever the new Democratic
candidate ends up being.
This is now an unprecedented period in modern presidential
politics with Biden dropping out.
The Democratic Party will now have to nominate a candidate
without primaries and caucuses.
GOP Rep. Nancy Mace says she plans to introduce a resolution on
Monday that calls on Vice President Kamala Harris to invoke the
25th Amendment.
More House Democrats have endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris.

I was hoping he would be chosen. I wasn't too keen on the other
possibilities.
His political career was spent mostly in congress so he knows
how a legislative body works, he was in the house from 2007 to
2019 and was on the House Veteran affairs committee.
Since 2019 he was been the Governor of Minnesota, so he also has
executive office experience.
Prior to politics he was a public school teacher for 20 years.
He got recreational cannabis legalized in his home state as
governor.
He is on record advocating for lower tuition costs, and overall
very supportive of public education.
He was previous a strong supporter of gun rights but has in
recent years started to advocate for better gun control, he got
legislation passed and signed in Minnesota that established
universal background checks and red flag laws for all gun buyers
in the state.
He is generally supportive of workers.
As governor he signed legislation that banned captive audience
meetings (a captive audience meeting is is a mandatory meeting
during working hours that an employer will arrange for the
purpose of discouraging employees from organizing or joining a
labor union.)
He also signed legislation banning non-compete clauses in
employment contracts, got paid days for employees, increased
workplace inspections for safety, and ergonomic requirements for
warehouse, meatpacking, and healthcare facility workers to
reduce workplace injury.
As governor, Walz has signed a number of bills that support the
LGBTQ community.
He also served 24 years in the Army National Guard.
He is a member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party
which is affiliated with the Democratic party at the national
level.
