The judge said: "Google is a monopolist, and it has acted as one to maintain its monopoly.” Developing story so the article is short of details as of this post. Duckduckgo was a little thin in the early days, but it's been very good for a long long time now. #Post#: 12048-------------------------------------------------- Re: Google loses massive antitrust lawsuit in US By: jsmth321 Date: August 6, 2024, 3:45 pm ---------------------------------------------------------
I don't miss using Google as a search engine at all, having quit it years ago in favour of duckduckgo. Duckduckgo was a little thin in the early days, but it's been very good for a long long time now.
I use a mix but using google less and less as it's gotten so bad. A key part of the case was Google’s exclusive deals with Apple and other companies to make Google’s search engine the default choice which has blocked out other companies and given google basically a monopoly which the judge has deemed illegal. Google will appeal so likely 5-10 years before we see the outcome of this case. #Post#: 12049-------------------------------------------------- Re: Google loses massive antitrust lawsuit in US By: Siouxie Date: August 6, 2024, 6:00 pm --------------------------------------------------------- I quite like dogpile too. *****************************************************
