They're asking $5,500 and its a good size space...but that sounds almost impossible! Am I wrong? My husband does not make nearly that much working for other shops but is it a lot different on the owners side of income? What about electricity and water? Any other tattoo shop owners out there or people with insight? Can we do this? #Post#: 86-------------------------------------------------- Re: Can I make $5,500 a month for rent as tattoo shop owner By: Saint Date: March 8, 2020, 4:27 am --------------------------------------------------------- I would say, you gotta be kidding. How much do they charge for a tattoo in the area? How much business do you expect? Multiple that by job and that's your "revenue". Then add up the expenses. Utilities, supplies, salaries, license fees, insurance, etc. Add that to the rent, and you got yourself "break-even". #Post#: 87-------------------------------------------------- Re: Can I make $5,500 a month for rent as tattoo shop owner By: Kylo Date: March 8, 2020, 4:36 am --------------------------------------------------------- [quote author=Saint link=topic=15.msg86#msg86 date=1583659632] I would say, you gotta be kidding. So you have to have spare money to "burn", so to speak, until business ramp up. #Post#: 89-------------------------------------------------- Re: Can I make $5,500 a month for rent as tattoo shop owner By: Creed Date: March 8, 2020, 4:39 am --------------------------------------------------------- I have no experience with tattoo shops, but in general you need to have enough equity (savings, home equity loan, small business loan) to run for two or three years before you start making a profit...you need that amount of time to build up enough of a customer base to make a go of things. #Post#: 90-------------------------------------------------- Re: Can I make $5,500 a month for rent as tattoo shop owner By: Kylo Date: March 8, 2020, 4:39 am --------------------------------------------------------- [quote author=Creed link=topic=15.msg89#msg89 date=1583660359] I have no experience with tattoo shops, but in general you need to have enough equity (savings, home equity loan, small business loan) to run for two or three years before you start making a profit...you need that amount of time to build up enough of a customer base to make a go of things. You might start by going the other way and figuring out how many customers your husband has now and how much money they are bringing into the shop. #Post#: 92-------------------------------------------------- Re: Can I make $5,500 a month for rent as tattoo shop owner By: Kylo Date: March 8, 2020, 4:42 am --------------------------------------------------------- [quote author=Creed link=topic=15.msg91#msg91 date=1583660425] [quote author=Kylo link=topic=15.msg90#msg90 date=1583660392] [quote author=Creed link=topic=15.msg89#msg89 date=1583660359] I have no experience with tattoo shops, but in general you need to have enough equity (savings, home equity loan, small business loan) to run for two or three years before you start making a profit...you need that amount of time to build up enough of a customer base to make a go of things. But I think $5500 is probably WAY too much for a startup, especially considering that you are going to have other expenses: salaries, insurance, shop supplies, etc. #Post#: 94-------------------------------------------------- Re: Can I make $5,500 a month for rent as tattoo shop owner By: Creed Date: March 8, 2020, 4:44 am --------------------------------------------------------- The incontrovertible fact that the artist 'could not care much less' is a massive obstacle and one who the landlord demands to be trained of. I've under no circumstances heard of peroxide being ready to take off a tat - laser removing is, so far as I understand, the one method. *****************************************************
