The NATO and USSR territories sit atop a 300-million-year-old
meteorite impact crater that is no longer visible due to
erosion. The local Latgalians live relatively simple lives;
however, they share an extraordinary folklore that centers
around their ancient crater. The maples in the area have always
been prolific sap producers, but a new natural resource has been
discovered and is being harvested from the trees. Each of these
energy-producing orbs is far more valuable than anyone imagined:
