I really want one now. Have previously done gravity racing. Does anyone have one for sale complete or part built. #Post#: 12087-------------------------------------------------- Re: Cycle kart wanted By: Matty902 Date: December 9, 2024, 3:35 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Still looking anyone thinking of selling. #Post#: 12091-------------------------------------------------- Re: Cycle kart wanted By: TomFDS Date: December 10, 2024, 5:22 am --------------------------------------------------------- New options for building are now available, Mark has opened a store selling his chassis and running gear parts. There’s also more local build groups appearing. #Post#: 12095-------------------------------------------------- Re: Cycle kart wanted By: Matty902 Date: December 10, 2024, 12:05 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Thanks for reply. I am happy to construct the chassis upto rolling and driving stage this is something we'll within my current mechaical ability my concern is doing it justice with a body. I do not believe there is currently anyone that supplies the bodies. This is.the reason for wanting to buy a complete one. #Post#: 12097-------------------------------------------------- Re: Cycle kart wanted By: TomFDS Date: December 10, 2024, 2:27 pm --------------------------------------------------------- The bodies of nearly all these early cars were made from wood, steel and aluminium with very basic tools, especially the race cars. There are also multiple ways to make a Cyclekart body, you can make a first attempt then as your skill builds you can re body the car. Many period race vehicles were rebodied during their careers after accidents or if the owner fancied a change. I would advise you to build a chassis and start with a simpler prototype shape and give it a go. Also each car in the favoured period was fairly unique, as they were bespoke items. Very few body panels from even the same coach builder were interchangeable and the finish would be best described as “adequate” if you were to impose modern show car standards on them! For this reason alone I would say it s highly unlikely anyone would produce a body as an item, it’s not really in the spirit f the original vehicles or Cyclekarts. I have about 25 years in full scale car body restoration behind me and if I had worried about getting my first build to the standards of some of the bodies on the club pages I might never have started. Have you seen this excellent video series? HTML https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPFd4QWjK2yIXKKTeeOZZI0_IQNipY1FP&si=BB2pTMj98_XPcuKv The body was the simplest part and looked great, followed the prototype and didn’t cost the earth. My shell is likely to be pretty basic compared to some on here, despite my experience I have never made a whole body! Give it a go, happy to share my limited knowledge and all the people I have met IRL so far have been really helpful answering my foolish questions. #Post#: 12099-------------------------------------------------- Re: Cycle kart wanted By: NewbieNick Date: December 10, 2024, 11:24 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Hi Matty,If you have the skills to build a drivable rolling chassis you are more than 1/2 way there. Building a body is not as complicated as you might think, lots of different material choices, my MG & Ian langs beautiful Alvis firebird are both made from plywood & flexibly. Careful choice of inspiration car can simplify the amount of work involved. I personally don’t want to see kit Cyclekarts . Give it a try you will get a lot more satisfaction with something you have built yourself. [/quote] Rhys, do you know more about the advert as the vendor's profile seems to be American? He is not a CKGB Member, that seems to be his first post on the CKGB facebook page, I have not seen that CycleKart at a meeting and he gives no indication of location. Please share any information to verify that this is a genuine sale. JimR #Post#: 12102-------------------------------------------------- Re: Cycle kart wanted By: jim Date: December 11, 2024, 1:51 am --------------------------------------------------------- Jim, The kart for sale on facebook has its build on here. The owner changed his name on here to guest274. It's the one made from a ladder. #Post#: 12103-------------------------------------------------- Re: Cycle kart wanted By: Jimr1999 Date: December 11, 2024, 2:00 am --------------------------------------------------------- Found the build journal, he was offering the complete cyclekart for £1000 at one point, still, a brand new profile and a first post offering a sale is a dodgy thing on Facebook as we cannot verify ownership. I would want to see the goods in person and have a receipt if I could not verify ownership, hence my question to Rhys, as he may know him. As always with Facebook, buyer beware. Here is the build journal... HTML https://cyclekartsgb.createaforum.com/build-journals/old-number-one/30/ JimR ***************************************************** DIR Next Page
