I hope everyone is able to read this chapter, I know summer is ending and school is starting so it's hard to find time to be still and read! I'm posting a couple of questions, but please share anything you took away from this chapter to share with everyone! 1. Do you attend Mass and if so do you go every Sunday? 2. What do you do to prepare yourself for Mass? 3. Do you keep Sunday holy? #Post#: 128-------------------------------------------------- Re: Chapter 18 - Mass Matters - Preparing Ourselves for the Cele bration of Sunday Eucharist By: Birdie Date: August 8, 2018, 5:26 pm --------------------------------------------------------- For me, attending Mass every Sunday is very important so I make it a priority to not miss it. The good thing about Catholic Mass is you can go to any Catholic church and the mass is the same everywhere. To prepare myself for Mass, I try to get their early so I can pray before Mass and ask God to open my heart to his word, to forgive my sins for the week and also review the readings for the mass. Plus I just like to sit and be still before Mass starts. I always hate when I am late and I slide into the pew right before the Priest enters, I feel better when I have prepared myself for the Mass. I have to say that I'm not good at keeping Sunday holy because I usually do chores around house and I also will do some work if I need to catch up. I found Heather's comment interesting (this was an old post of hers about Sunday Mass) that her and her family decided to keep Sunday holy by not going out to eat after Mass and just spending quality time at home or at the park. She said they use to go out to eat or shopping and felt like it was not right to practice being holy on Sunday but then go out to a restaurant and have those people working on Sunday. Anyway, just something I found interesting. #Post#: 129-------------------------------------------------- Re: Chapter 18 - Mass Matters - Preparing Ourselves for the Cele bration of Sunday Eucharist By: Jday1106 Date: August 13, 2018, 8:23 pm --------------------------------------------------------- 1. Do you attend Mass and if so do you go every Sunday? So this year one of the things I wanted to work on was going to mass every holy day of obligation (which means every Sunday and in edition special days like Easter, Christmas, etc. ). I am proud to say that I have done amazing and only missed one day this year and it was because I was out of town and I didn't get home on time to make church. Going to mass is extremely important to me, it's one of the things God asks us to do in order to praise/worship him. I will admit that I don't always feel like going every Sunday but one thing that got me in the right mind set was realizing that all God asks from us each week is one hour of our time, when I looked at it like that I realized that it shouldn't be a big deal to attend mass. I will say that I don't always feel like I'm getting something out of mass each time I go but I realized that that isn't the purpose. The purpose is to sacrifice my time for God to go and do this for him. 2. What do you do to prepare yourself for Mass? I don't really do much to prepare for mass each Sunday. Sometimes I will do the readings before I go but not always. Sometimes I will pray before I go and ask that God help me take away whatever it is he is wanting me to take away from it. I do like to try to get to mass a little early to secure a seat. At my church you can't be late or you will be standing up the whole time. I also make sure not to eat an hour before mass (this is something you are suppose to do if you are planning on receiving the bread and wine they serve). 3. Do you keep Sunday holy? I probably do not keep Sunday holy like I should. I still do chores around the house and stuff like that. I do make sure not to work on Sundays. With my current job I love that I don't have to work on Sundays. We still have on call shifts on the weekends and I try to make sure to never be on call on a Sunday. *****************************************************
