So an interesting start to season 5 in what is a very
competitive league ..
Feb saw match days 2-5 take place .. and as it stands 3 very
strong teams in the relegation zone in Atletico, Ajax & City ..
And holders Liverpool have started poorly with just 2 wins from
5 .. but it's a marathon not a sprint!
2nd - Darlington - Bayern
P4 W3 D0 L1
A solid start to the season .. after an opening day defeat, 3
wins from next 4 see them in 5th ...
Low scorers with only 1 goal per game average, but at this stage
I'm sure Darlington is happy ..
1st - Daz - Spurs
P4 W3 D1 L0
Congrats to Gamesmaster Daz - unbeaten in the month and sitting
2 pts clear at the top after 5 games ....
Considering their fire power, should be scoring more goals than
they do (Kane is wasted there Daz, let Liverpool have him!)
A 1-1 draw against N London rivals Arsenal prevented the 100%
record ...
A 2-0 reversal to my Liverpool on the final match of the month
stopped them winning it ..

In the top 2 divisions in March, no team had a 100% record -
even though just 3 games played!
Poor months for Atletico, City & Real with just a solitary point
earned each ..
Most surprising, though, was Spurs failing to win, a big
contrast from the MOTM award in February!
3rd David H - Roma
P3 W2 D1 L0 GD +3; Clean Sheets 2
A good month for Roma, safely in mid table but looking to knock
on the door to the top 4 ...
A 2-0 and a 1-0 were separarted by a 1-1 mid month ...
2nd StephenJ - Barca
P3 W2 D1 L0 GD +3; Clean Sheets 2
An identical record, new manager Stephen pips David to runners
up spot by virtue of an extra goal scored!
Has adjusted well to his new role, and has turned Barca into
title contenders overnight!
1st - Raingod - Liverpool
P3 W2 D1 L0 GD +4; Clean Sheets 3
The tightest of margins, but wih a better goal difference and no
goals conceded in the month, the award goes to Liverpool!
2 x 2-0 wins and a 0-0 draw see the reigning champions keep up
the pressure at the top .. in what is a very competitive league!

As we approach the half way stage of the season, its very close
with the top 4 only separated by 2 points!
The top 5 have all drawn between 5 and 7 of their 12 games so
far!
The bottom 4 are have a slight gap vs the rest - but it's still
early days .. Anyone from 7th down could still easily be sucked
into the relegation battle ...
The top 3 teams in the month all secured 8 league points and
were difficult to separate ..
3rd Daz - Spurs
P4 W2 D2 L0 GD +3; Clean Sheets 2
Another strong month, only GD keeping them off the top of the
table!
Draws with Bayern and Barca prevented 100% record ..
2nd Raingod - Liverpool
P4 W2 D2 L0 GD +2; Clean Sheets 4
Identical record to Daz - it was felt that not conceding a goal
in the whole month was more important than the +1GD secured by
Spurs ..
The lack of goals - 2 in 4 games - is a worry - and the signing
of Innocenti is hoped to change this ..
1st Bruffio - Atletico
P4 W2 D2 L0 GD +3; Clean Sheets 1
Congrats to Bruffio on this award!
Given the identical records, the panel looked at the relative
league positions...
... Atletico have done very well to match the league leaders in
terms of perfromance .. and this has seen them climb out of the
bottom 3 ..

The closest title race ever - top 4 separated by a single point!
Both Arsenal and Atletico were bore draw specialists in the
month, grinding out 3 x 0-0s each!
AC Milan were similar, 2 x 0-0s and a 0-1 reversal - something
about teams starting with A??!!
Four teams tied on 6 points whilst the winner secured 7 ...
Just missing the cut are Ajax (who with 2 wins from 3 are
suggesting that Skitz can turn it around ...), Barca and Roma ..
2nd - Stocko - Man U
P3 W2 D0 L1 GD +2; Clean Sheets 2
A good month for Stocko ... after a slow start to the season
they are in 7th, just 5 points from the summit - knowing his
ambitions I am sure that in Old Trafford there is talk of the
title ...
Defeat to Roma in the final game of the month keeps them as
runners up ...
1st Chris S - Marseille
P3 W2 D2 L0 GD +4; Clean Sheets 1
With 2 promotions in 3 seasons, it was felt that their 1st
season in the Elite would be one of transition and consolidation
- not at all, they sit 3rd only a point off the top!!
Beating incumbent champions Liverpool in Gameweek 15 2-0 shows
they have what it takes!

June:
The most exciting season yet with the top 4 separated by just 3
pts, with Arsenal and Man U a further 4 points behind .. 21 pts
to play for, so a really open competition!
It's the same at the bottom - With a fully managed division
there are some very experienced managers, 2 of which will be
adding relegation to their CVs shortly .. whilst another will
have the stress of a play off game ...
3 teams secured 0 or 1 points - Ajax, Atletico and Chelsea,
while no one had 100% record ...
2nd Liverpool - Raingod
P4 W3 D1 L0 GD +3; Clean Sheets 3
Liverpool tied on pts with Bayern and Real Madrid, but pipped
them on GD .. it was that close!
These performances will help both those clubs pull away from the
relegtion scrap ..
Liverpool defence is hard to penetrate with 1 conceded in 4, but
we only scored 4 in 4 - which isn't enough if we expect to
retain the title ..
Man U beat us in wk17 to break our run ...
1st - AC - Werewilf
P4 W3 D1 L0 GD +5; Clean Sheets 4
Congrats Werewilf - this takes AC away from trouble and I think
they can now take a breath !
Got better as the month progressed, ending with 2 x 2-0 wins ...
Will his recent appointment at Portsmouth in CofE take his eye
off the ball or has the hard work done so far sunk into the
players??

July:
So 4 games in the month and no one with 100% record .. in truth
the top sides all keep surprisingly dropping points leaving it a
wide open race ..
Match days 20- 23 in July, spare a thought for Chelsea with zero
points in the month ...
Four sides secured 7 league points from 12 and were in
contention for the runners up spot ..
It was a really tight call, the 3 to miss out were
AC Milan GD: +1 C/S: 2
Ajax GD: +3 C/S: 1
Man City: GD+2 C/S: 3
Spurs GD: +2 C/S:1
The runner up slot could have gone to Ajax or City who are both
doing their bit to escape relegation ...
2nd Barca - Stephen J
P4 W2 D1 L1 GD +4; Clean Sheets 2
Stephen takes 2nd place on account of his Barca team in the
title chase in his debut season in EFLO!
He's done a great job getting Barca to compete at the highest
level ...
Highlight was a 3-0 over Arsenal!
1st Real - Mike M
P4 W3 D0 L1 GD +1; Clean Sheets 3
Well done to Mike on a very solid month .. whilst Real fans will
be disappointed they are not up there in the mix, they can beat
anyone on their day ..
Mike has made then hard to beat - they hadn't conceded in the
month before losing to Pool in wk23 ..

Aug:
7 different MOTM winners shows what an exciting league it has
been!
Man Utd forced their way into 3rd with 7 points, whilst
champions Liverpool also took 7 from 9
[b]1st - Roma David H
P3 W3 D0 L0
Whilst Roma were expected to do better than mid table, David H
ended the season (and his time at the club I hear ...) with 3
wins , scoring 7 with 0 conceded - well done!
