August Manager of the Month

With the season only just begun and only 2 games to go from you
would think it would be tough to separate out contenders, but
even at this stage there were some clear gaps in each division.
ELITE LEAGUE
Remarkably 9 sides have been undefeated in their opening two
games, more remarkable is that last years champions Olympique
Marseille lost their first two matches. At the other end we have
just 2 sides who have a 100% record! Dazoctaron and Tottenham
Hotspur (maybe this year at last!) and Paris Saint Germain and
Matt Harrison. Annoyingly for me they both won 4-1 and 4-0
played one game at home respectively and both beat Shakhtar 4-1!
But as Matt beat Marseille in the other tie and Daz had
unmanaged Wolfsburg, by the tiniest of margins the ELITE
division manager of the month for August is….

ADIDAS LEAGUE
In a very competitive division we had 4 sides who won both their
opening fixtures. Everton and Borussia Mochengladbach (both
unmanaged) were among them. The other two sides are
Littlemonkey’s Slavia Prague and Mike M’s Leicester City .
Prague managed 2-0 and 1-0 wins against Sevilla and Schalke 04
respectively. Leicester recorded the 2-1 and 1-0 score lines
against Red Star Belgrade and Lazio. But with only one of the
sides playing both their games away from home and again by a
narrow margin, your manager of the month for August is…..

UMBRO LEAGUE
So there would be a clear winner on paper, as Galatasaray are
the only side to win both games, but being unmanaged means we
move on to the 4 sides who had one win and one draw. These were
Inter Milan (David H) Arsenal (Littlemonkey) Celtic (Skittles)
and PAOK Thessaloniki (Dazoctaron). Sadly though, the latter 3
sides only managed to score 4 goals in their combined 6 matches,
and so having recorded a 5-1 win, the August manager of the
month is……
