Every so often, I'll update this topic with a new album for the forum to listen to, rate from 1-5, and discuss! I am choosing popular/landmark albums at random for us to listen to and rate/discuss! I will keep a list of the overall album rating in the first post. FFTWG CERTIFIED RATINGS: Justice - †: 4/5 [hr] The first album we will be listening to and rating is Justice - † (Cross, or Justice on streaming services) from 2007, regarded by many as the greatest electro house album of all time, and one of the greatest EDM albums of all time. Listen to the album and rate it on a scale from 1-5 (1 being the lowest, 5 being the highest)! First three tracks don't disappoint, and last 3 don't either. I think if the album wasn't as stretched out as it felt, I would have enjoyed it a tad bit more, but as is, it's still a decent project and I wouldn't mind returning to it. Favorites: Genesis, Let There Be Light, D.A.N.C.E, Phantom Pt. II, DVNO, Stress (*Top Favorite*), Waters Of Nazareth, One Minute To Midnight. Least Favorite: Newjack #Post#: 2832-------------------------------------------------- Re: FFTWG Rate The Album: Justice - † By: Cowcaver Date: July 4, 2020, 1:10 pm --------------------------------------------------------- 4.5/5 This was a great album. The songs all had very fresh beats. Every song flowed fantastically into each other, it makes the album feel unified. One piece of criticism I have is that these songs could have more variety... for some (Thinking of Newjack and Phantom) it just felt like a specific section was repeated too much, which unfortunately happens a lot more in this genre. But other than that it was fire!! Some songs resonated a lot more with me, notably Let There Be Light, D.A.N.C.E, Phantom Pt. II, Valentine, Stress, One Minute To Midnight. Also, some of these songs also sounded like Pokemon music to me hehe. If you like the electronic parts of these songs, I recommend KLOUD, he does songs like these except none of the "funk" element. Thank you for showing us this album by the way! It was fun to listen to :) #Post#: 2833-------------------------------------------------- Re: FFTWG Rate The Album: Justice - † By: abu_doubleu Date: July 7, 2020, 10:46 am --------------------------------------------------------- I rate Justice by Justice a strong 4/5. For starters, the flow was consistently amazing, as is a positive point for most EDM albums. Any album with a consistent flow like this is very immersive and makes you feel like you are a part of the story you are telling. One night in a club with some club electronic music! My qualms about the playlist are how in the middle it gets rather dragging and forgettable when listened in one sitting, although the tracks are still good on their own. All in all, good collection of songs individually, and also as a group though with some forgettableness. I love how each track has its own unique sound, and also how vocals feature more heavily starting from The Party. Some songs feel stressful, like...well, Stress, whereas others, such as D.A.N.C.E, are more upbeat and energetic. It creates a good combination of songs that I enjoyed listening to. Side Note: Also realised that Tik Tok by Ke$ha heavily featured The Party by Justice. #Post#: 2834-------------------------------------------------- Re: FFTWG Rate The Album: Justice - † By: Penguin022 Date: July 11, 2020, 11:33 am --------------------------------------------------------- I really liked the album! 4/5 from me as well. The flow was fire, the songs were consistently dynamic and exciting, super danceable. I agree that there does seem to be a dip in quality in the middle and I think it could've mixed it up even more (which is part of why Stress is such a breath of fresh air (that Night of Disco Mountain sample!!)), and the dip of excitement in the middle-ish area makes the album feel a liiiittle long. With that being said, it was still a super exciting and obviously influential album for electro house. I had not listened to any Justice before this album besides the song Safe and Sound, which I suggest for anyone who liked the album. It seems that most Justice fans don't think any of their albums are as good as this one, but most people seem to agree that Safe and Sound is a great song. I guess we can also add a section to the topic where we can vote for our favourite/least favourite song from each album. You can vote for up to three songs for your favourite, and one song for your least favourite. Favourites: Stress, Genesis, Phantom Pt. II Least Favourite: Valentine P.S. Good point about The Party-Tik Tok reference, Abu, I was trying to determine what the song reminded me of. #Post#: 2835-------------------------------------------------- Re: FFTWG Rate The Album: Justice - † By: abu_doubleu Date: July 12, 2020, 10:24 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Favourites: The Party is my favourite. Second would be D.A.N.C.E and third would be Waters of Nazareth. I'm terrible at picking least favourites, I'll just put Phantom since I kind of zoned out there and it wasn't as captivating as the others to that point. *****************************************************
