       Knife's Edge +The City of Corruption+

[center]A placed named not for its landscape, but by the way its
inhabitants live. Knife’s Edge is where the rejected go; where
those who make too little money or live primal lifestyles go. It
is a place mostly inhabited by humans, though the occasional
progen can be spotted arriving seconds too late to its
destination. The name of the city is quite literal; one lives by
the Knife’s Edge. One must do whatever it takes to survive. Hunt
or be hunted. Deaths happen nightly, and the so-called
‘authorities’ barely bat an eye - many suspect those in charge
of keeping the ‘peace’ are being paid off by the powerful gangs
and organizations to turn tail to their actions. Thievery,
murder, and deceit prosper in this city, located just south of
       Clockwork.
       Knife’s Edge:
       The City of Corruption.

The woman was silent; her movements weren’t graceful, but they
did their job. She was but a ghost in the alleyways, unseen by
those who dubbed the grubby hall their home for the night. Her
hair was tucked up in the hat she wore atop her head, which hid
the snow white - and slightly greasy - locks as well as the ears
she had protruding from her head. The clothes she wore were no
longer white and pristine, but drab and dirty - the only things
she could afford with what little coin she had.
Speaking of money, Kya was absolutely starving. Knife’s Edge
wasn’t a beautiful place; it didn’t have gourmet restaurants
that served five courses with servers that treated her with
respect because she was part of the royal family. No, Knife’s
Edge was a place with dirty shacks that served food that had to
be infested with diseases. Kya stayed away from those places,
but she did find a decent place. A bakery run by an old man who
had a big sword and put up a good fight. Kya knew she could
trust that place - in fact, she was positive the old man had a
soft spot for her. He told her that she reminded him of his
daughter, a young woman who was killed around Kya’s age by the
alleged Kingpin who was in charge of the largest gang in Knife’s
       Edge.
The bakery, like many shops in Knife’s Edge, had metal bars
securing the windows and a door that had five locks on the
inside to keep any undesirables out. Kya knocked on the door
three times, then four more. It opened immediately.
“What’ll you like today?” The gruff voice asked, an almost
tender light entering the old man’s beady eyes.
“Two loaves of bread.” Kya was short, to the point. No use in
wasting any time. The longer she was out on the streets the more
likely she could be attacked - it would be the fifth time in
three days. Two grimy coins were tossed at the man, who caught
them with ease. In return he stuck two hard loaves of bread into
a sack and tossed it back at her. The petite woman caught it
with a nod of appreciation, a twinkle in her eyes that conveyed
her gratefulness. She rushed out not a second later with the bag
       of bread in her hand.
She managed to get halfway back to the hideout where she and her
brother were staying before she felt she was being followed, in
turn causing her to change routes so as to not lead them to the
safe haven she found for her brother. Two minutes later her
attacker finally made a move. Although she was expecting it, she
       moved too slow.
A swipe of a knife and blood was spilled; a cut trailing several
       inches down her back.

The boy slept in a dirty pile huddled in the corner. That is
until a tail tickled his nose. One of his ears twitched as it
did. "Vince, it's too early." He mumbled and rolled over away.
But the small cat would not let him sleep. He jumped onto the
shoulder of the boy and reached down batting his nose. The boy
sat up. Once a prince, now a dirty cast away. With a cat and his
sister for company. He brushed his dirty white hair out of his
face and picked up the cat. Nuzzling his nose. 'Alright. I'm
awake Vince." He yawned and sat the cat down, scratching behind
his ears. "Where is Kya?" He looked down at Vince. Knowing full
well that the cat would understand him.
The cat climbed up into his lap and rubbed his forehead along
Rheuben's chin. "She left a while ago. Before the sun even came
up. I don't know where she went, but you know she's not going to
       be gone for long."
"You're right. She'll be back soon. Come here." He pulled the
cat close snuggling close to him, enjoying his warmth. "I don't
know where I would be with out you Vince." The cat bulked
against him. Pushing at Rheuben's chest with his paws.
"I haven't even cleaned myself in a while, let me go!" The cat
squirmed away. And went over to the other side of the room to
clean himself. Rheuben stood up and walked out of the room to
the area that he and his sister and Vincent used to relieve
himself. He smiled. If any one had heard the conversation just
then they would have heard a cat meowing and a boy talking to
the meows. He could be considered insane by humans. He went back
into the room and picked up his canteen taking a small sip
before taking the cup Vincent used to drink and poured a litte
bit of water for him. The cat bounded over and took a few laps
before looking up at Rheuben. 'You know she's been gone for a
while, if she's not back soon I'd start to worry."
'Maybe I should just go look for her.' He scratched Vince's head
and walked out the door of the little safe haven they had made
for themselves. He hated dealing with these dirty humans and
progen alike. he didn't even want to go outside the haven, but
his sister was more important than that. A smell wafted past
him. His sisters blood. He could smell it. It was getting ever
closer. "Kya!" He breathed and took off at a dead run through
the crowd for his sister. He ran smack dab into a man with two
loaves of bread in a bag. The man fell backwards. His sisters
blood was on his hands. He dropped down over the man straddling
him. Rheuben growled and looked into the face of the man. He
pulled out his falcata and held it to the mans throat. 'Where is
she?" He pressed the point of the falcata into the man's throat.
       "W-what are you talking about. W-who? I'm just a man trying t-to
feed his family." He stuttered. Rheuben picked up the mans hand
and smeared the blood of his sister that remained on his hands
       across his face.
"Last chance. Where is she?" He growled out sentence so it
became a death threat. The man pointed off into the distance
from the direction he came. And there it was. Rheuben could
smell his sisters scent. It was there. Faint, but there. She
wasn't near, but she wasn't too far. He growled at the man below
him and smiled. "Thanks." Then he slit the mans throat, leaving
him alive to drown in his own blood. The sound of him gasping on
his own blood was music to his ears as Rheuben took the bread
from the man and searched him for a couple of other things. He
didn't take long. He found a small pouch with coin in it and he
found some tea. Something he could treat his sister with later.
He could have possibly found more on the man but didn't have
time so instead he jumped up and began to continue to follow his
       sisters scent.

       ---------------------------------------------------------
The scent of blood was like the price of copper in a city like
this, it had no value, because it was never a rare thing. Raithe
had grown accustom to pilling beautiful copper quite often; in
his line of work. The boy looked up past deep tan looking eyes
and smirked at the three ahead of him. They had no idea, most of
them were humans, but the one in the back, was Progen..
apparently progen weren't all peaceful, apparently they had
their own fight modules on their tight little schedules.
Raithe snarked and spit on the ground glaring to each of them.
The one to the left has a large battered looking blood stained
bat. he was obviously a muscle junky that was constantly getting
high off of the newest in ex-positional drugs. The Progen was
simple, plain, like some mad scientist he held a gun out pointed
at Raithe, a pathetic weapon that he of course had no business
with. and finally right of all of them, as the silent assassin
looking little fuck.. Sneaky covered in black clothes, and his
face was even covered.. the idea of a ninja came to mind, but
Raithe guessed they didn't deserve a title like that.
"So what will it be then, you've stalled and stalled, just hand
over your credits and get the fuck out of here!" the progen
called out first, that made it easy to determine he was weak,
and just some ringleader. Sadly the world had a stupid little
habit of the weakest bastards in the world somehow commanding
respect. he would show them the folly of such notions.
Finally Raithe unraveled the chain that hung around him and
started to spin it at his side, a vacant stare passing between
him and the rest. The Progen spoke again, but even his arrogance
was muffled behind the sharp whirl of the wind that came from
the spun chain. "So you think you are gonna fight us then.. you
best watch out, another of our guys will be returning soon, but
I expect he will be pretty pissed when theres nothing left of
you for him to fuck with!"
The arrogance came from the foolish robots mouth as if it were
the only sensible concept he could comprehend. Raithe had a
certain level of hatred for ugly fucks, and arrogant pigs that
had no way of backing themselves up. Both were trying his
patience now. "Maybe ill just wait for your little friend to
return.. it could save me the work of finding him later once iv
purged all of you worthless fucks from this world. His voice was
deep, dark, something very unfitting of how he looked.
"Fuck you mate!" The Progen called and pulled the trigger, but
in reality it was questionable whether he realized he was dead
before ofr after he'd already fired. The Chain returned in a
serpentine pull and was covered about 3 ft in with thick blood.
The Progen lay dead in the back, and the others looked as though
       they were petrified, dumb founded.
Raithe raised his attention to the brute first, as as if on que
with his eyes, the Chain struck out again and slithered around
the brutish max eviscerating him entirely before the final one,
the 'ninja" took off. Like a scorpions tail it struck out and
claimed the fool by his shoulder bringing his body flung back a
crumpled mess of tortured screams at Raithes feet, The young
Dracomis placed his foot on the mans face.. and ... Silenced
       him.
Loot came easy after that, Raithe collected each of the fools
wallets, and a key card that was in the Progens pocket. The
stupidity just continued to pile up, but for Raithe, his task
       wasn't done here yet.
The screets were soaked in rain, debris and shit from piled up
homeless civilians. It really was probably the shittiest place
he could think of in Airidiun. Sometimes it was even beyond him,
as to how he'd come to be here. The life he'd lived before was
nothing like this, but it also was nothing of freedom either.
Thats right.. he had run away from that home, for a reason..
Before long the rain parted, he was practically walking around
blind now, lost in his own mind, he passed through a building as
if it didn't exist, and followed the very subtle sound of
breathing. Blood pooled into a puddle of water around her, and
knelt in the blood stricken cess pool was a young woman, drab in
horrid dirty clothes. Raithe cringed a bit at seeing her, but
then noticed her cut. "What the hell happened there?" He didn't
even realize he'd spoke until it was too late to stop himself,
and he stepped out of the lime light and shadow to kneel beside
       the woman.
"We need to staunch that before it gets stupid, all of this
filth will get you killed faster than any blade... did the one
that did it get away?" His voice was cold and precise, thick and
strong all the same, he commanded levels of attention and
respect, even if he looked somewhat femme with how he dressed.
His tan eyes met the deep gold of the Asader woman and remained
there for a moment. "You definitely aren't froma round here are
you?" Raithe got up after that and brought his dracomis fangs
over the cloth of his shirt to tear a piece from it. He patched
it over the wound and held his hand there for a moment before
speaking again. "Are you here alone?"

Vincent was not one to stay far from his precious human for long
at all. he was a black streak of lightning following close
behind Rheuben, always watchful, always waiting for someone to
dare and try and hurt his most precious servant. The cat
couldn't help but muse and laugh at the idea of Rheuben wearing
a butler outfit and serving him milk on a silver platter.
Perhaps that dream could someday come true. it was also probably
fairly twisted that he often pictured the boy with a collar. Of
course these were just fantasies, nothing more.
Vincent sighed as he took in the new scent of blood. If there
was one thing he particularly hated, and had been subjected to
quite alot recently, it was that crimson sustenance. He was
pretty thankful that Rheuben wasn't a vampire... "You know.. you
better listen to him.." Cooed the cat from a post where he
watched Rheuben handle things as only a true Asader could. he
was protective over Kya, more so than probably was rational.
Ruby ended the poor little robbers life and was off again, but
Vincent by this time had, had quite enough running, and so
whilst Ruby ran he perched himself on his companions shoulder
and raised a paw to lick it before shouting "Onward!"
This was the relationship. Of Vince the Prince, and Ruby the
       Asaders finest little gayboy.

The pain that came with the blow was unlike any other. Kya was
brought up a warrior; she fought and trained alongside her
brothers. She could handle broken bones and bruises, but the
bite of a blade was something entirely different. Had it been
from a blade sharp like her own Fang the pain would’ve been far
less, but the knife that wounded her was dull. A forced entry
and messy slicing of skin left Kya laying in her own pooling
blood; the wound was red, the skin around the blood uneven and
choppy as if the artist had no pride in his work.
It was a concentrated pain. It didn’t ache like a bruise or
broken bone, rather it stung. She could feel the edges of the
wound throb, and she could only guess how many infections were
slithering their way in, ready to eat her from the inside out.
Her instincts were screaming at her to get up and go to
someplace safe - to find her brother and have him help her - but
her body wouldn’t follow her commands. It remained unresponsive
as she lay on the street. Even if she did survive she wouldn’t
have any food or money to bring Rheuben. She was plain lucky her
attacker didn’t take Fang from her.
The sound of footsteps went unnoticed. It wasn’t until a voice
called out to her did she know someone was with her. Her petite
body immediately tensed in anticipation of another blow - one
that would most likely end her life. But it never came. Instead
she felt his presence grow nearer, the shift of the air telling
her he was kneeling beside her. Despite the fact he made no move
to attack she was still panicked. Her heart was threatening to
burst out of her chest and her breathing was so labored it was a
wonder she hadn’t passed out yet.
His question remained unanswered, yet she was able to find some
comfort in his words. At least she wouldn’t die alone if it came
down to that. The mysterious man’s detached voice rang out once
more and Kya was finally able to calm herself down as the shock
of the attack began to wear off.
The first thing she did was cough; her throat felt like the
deserts from which she hailed. It didn’t help that she hadn’t
been eating and drinking properly and felt weak to begin with.
Rather than feel pathetic and defeated, Kya only felt angry.
Golden eyes narrowed into a fierce glare that was unmatched by
her broken demeanor. “He’s not getting away. I’m going to get
him..” She said with a voice that was even more mismatched that
her susceptible body; a voice that was sweet and delicate and
clearly didn’t belong in the slums of Knife’s Edge. Despite her
words she made not a move to go after her assailant, unable to
find the energy and strength to push herself up to her feet.
“I was born here.” A lie. What good would it do to give her
birthplace away? Zariko was still out looking for her, and with
Rheuben to protect she didn’t want to give any information away.
Who knows what the man was capable of, even if he was helping
her. A wince shot across her face and a hiss of air passed
through her teeth as he pressed the cloth to her wound. She bit
down on her tongue so hard she could taste the metallic tang of
       blood fill her mouth.
“I’m here with you, so I’m not alone.” Her voice was more mellow
with her next reply. The adrenaline may still be coursing
through her veins but her spirits were dropping significantly.
Rheuben. He was still out there alone, though he did have
Vincent with him. Vincent may be a cat but Kya knew the feline
would protect Rheuben where she could not.

At least Vince was there. on his shoulder helping to push him
onward. He had to find her. He could smell her life spilling
from her body. If she died he would find a way to bring that
thief back and kill him all over again in the most brutal of
ways. If he had time he would have taken far more pleasure in
killing him if he would have had time. But he couldn't. He had
to get to Kya. He moved and weaved through the crowd. Easily
avoiding them, following her scent. He leaned his head towards
Vince. "We have to find her."
Finally he did find her. And there was a man there with her. He
stopped and looked up to Vince. "that guy is going to die if he
just tried to rob her." He then ducked down and whispered to
Vince. "You may wanna jump down" And with out waiting for Vince
to respond, knowing he would most likely listen. He barreled
towards the man and slammed his body into the mans. "GET AWAY
FROM HER!" He seethed and kicked the thief when he fell over.
"Get the fuck out of here." He ordered as he were still a
prince. Then he turned to his sister. Dropping to his knees
       beside her.
"Kya." He whispered and ran his hands over the flesh of her arm.
"What were you thinking? You know we travel in pairs." He knew
he didn't like to speak a lot and this was the most he had
spoken in months to anyone other than Vince, but he wasn't about
to lose another sister. "Come on. Let's get you to a doctor or
someone who can help you. Someone who can save you.' Tears
streamed his cheeks as he looked around at all the blood, some
of it soaking into his pant legs on the ground. No this wasn't
right not his sister. 'Vince. get over here." He called. No the
cat couldn't do much, but he could offer moral support and it
didn't hurt to know where he was. All the blood thirsty people
here. They could kill the poor little cat if they tried. Two
deaths he could not allow. Not even one if he could help it.

Raithe grumbled under his breath having grown pretty tired of
the tough guy act, all things considered he settled next to the
woman. "You can lie all you'd like.. your scent isn't from
here... I know better." His eyes were obsidian, with deep tan
iris that searched the soul. He was a Dracomis, a Dragon being
as many called them. The woman had to be afraid of him, to some
extent and he knew that. "If nothing else, whats your name?" It
would help her to at least get past her pain if he could make a
little small talk with the woman. "I am Raithe.." His last name
and the rest was pointless so he didn't share them.
       Meanwhile:
Vincent purred with each step. he was more than content
remaining on top of Ruby's shoulder and watching the world fly
by as if he'd been given cat nip. "Just be sure to clean up
after your done with all of this. Id rather you not pet me with
blood on your hands." With that comment, and little chuckle from
his companion Vincent groomed himself, just in time for him to
catch what Ruby was saying. "Oh dear... I guess your going to
have to deal with this on t... wait.." it was too late, even
though he'd already jumped from Ruby's shoulder he realized it
too late.. this one wasn't exactly a threat...
       HKfsd;afk;kjdf
Rheuben tumbled with Raithe, and the two of them were encrusted
in dirt and scum. Raithe was last to get up, and when he did he
glared.... His cloaks had been torn, and so the truly menacing
parts to his body could be seen. A Spear like tail snaked out
like a reptile, and the spines, the horns that protruded all
through his cale inlet skin. His eyes.. He glared at the new
comer and whipped his chain around a few times, before letting
it fly and snagging Rheuben away from his sister and over to him
by his throat. His chain stopped after of course and Raithe bent
down to pick up the scrawny little boy by the scruff of his
       shirt.
"You are pretty fucking rude you know that? I was trying to help
her... " Then he tossed Rheuben to the ground and started
towards the two of them. "Now no more games.. you both have
almost exact same features, and I have my guesses, who the fuck
       are you two?"
Vincent hissed in the back ground and moved to Rheubens side, as
was commanded. The blood was being staunched.. whatever the
stranger had done was somewhat working to help with Kya's wound.
Vincent nuzzled close to Rheuben and spoke as only Rheuben could
hear him. "This one saved your sister. but he could just as
easily end all of us.. hes not weak. lets be careful okay." He
then licked Rheuben's cheek and settled in the boys lap.

She managed to gather enough energy to turn her head and look at
the man beside her. Pitless black eyes stared back at her, the
gold irises much like her own searching her soul. She had to
look away. Just by his eyes alone she could tell what he was; he
was just as far away from home as she was. The true power he
possessed finally connected in her scattered brain. He was
dragonborn; wings and a tail lay dormant in his body, and a
strong fire rest a kindling inside his heart. But Kya wasn’t
scared of him. His features, while they were sharp and strong,
were soft and beautiful all the same. She wasn’t scared of him,
more rather she was scared of his species.
The last thing she wanted to do was lay on the dirty ground
having a pleasant conversation with a dracomis, but apparently
that’s what she was getting. ”My name is…” She paused. Should
she tell him her true name? If he already has suspicions about
her race would her name not ring bells? It was far too risky to
share such valuable information with him, but before she could
give him the witty remark she was conjuring her brother made an
       appearance.
Both men tumbled around. Rheuben was the first to get up with
Raithe right on his heels with torn cloaks that revealed the
marks signature to a dracomis. Kya gasped but said naught. It
wasn’t until Rheuben came to her side did she speak.
A weak smile took hold of her face, but with his presence by her
side she felt stronger than she looked. ”Yes, I know. It was
foolish of me to go out alone, but I needed to get you food…”
Her smile grew a fraction of an inch, touched by her brother’s
concern, before it was ripped off her face altogether.
The petite woman was on her knees in an instant, making a move
to grab the chain but her motions were sluggish and she missed.
Golden eyes sparkled with concern as she watched Raithe pick
Rheuben up. The second Rheuben’s feet were back on the ground
Kya crawled over to him, pulling him into her arms and
inspecting him for any immediate injuries, all but ignoring the
pissed off dracomis. The fear she felt was far more apparent now
that she’s seen only a small demonstration of what he was
capable of, but that didn’t mean she wouldn’t protect her
brother with the last of her life. ”My name is Kya, and if you
lay one more finger on my brother I will kill you.” Golden eyes
were fierce and her delicate voice was strong, but her body gave
way the fatigue and pain she truly felt. She was slouched
against her brother despite having pulled him into her arms,
blood was oozing from the wound on her back, Fang was humming at
her side, and her eyes were deadly; but she wasn’t a threat to
       the dracomis.

Rheuben smiled at his sister, trying not to show how bad he
thought her wound actually was. Taking her hand in his an
listening t why she had gone out at all. Realization hit him
that maybe this guy was trying to help his sister. He had
staunched it. Was this guy really a friend? Something not
commonly seen in this city. Almost never. But really it didn't
matter. He didn't have time to reply to his sisters silly notion
of feeding him being a legitimate reason to go out on her own.
Didn't have time to thank the guy an explain that it was a
       misunderstanding. Nothing.
The chain wrapped around his neck. Cutting off Rheuben's
breathing and jerked him away from his sister. The blood from
her b0dy and his hands from the man who injured his sister
spraying through the air as he is pulled away. Then he found
himself looking up at the one he had just blindly tackled away
from his sister. It was a stunning realization. This was no
ordinary Progen or human. And really not someone he should have
picked a fight with. The stranger lifted him easily into the
air, spitting out the words of disgust at him before tossing him
to the ground. He could obviously see the relation between the
two. What had Kya told him? This was why Rheuben preferred not
to talk to anyone one. It was just easier that way. There was
no time for what ifs and how things were to be done now.
He was grateful for Vince however, who bounded up to him and
whispered confirmation to what he already thought of this
stranger. He whispered so low that the was sure only the cat
would hear as his rough tongue ran across his cheek. "I'm aware
of that now." Then remembered not to touch the cat with blood on
his hands. The silly little guy would have a fit after this was
all done and over with. He would complain at him the whole time
he cleaned himself that was for sure. if it were not for the
given severity of the situation, Rheuben would have allowed
himself to chuckle at the image. But instead there was a
dracomis at hand. One that he had just royally pissed off.
His sisters arms wrapped around him and he was pulled into her
embrace. Even in her state she would protect him. Or die trying.
Thus was the Asader way though. He knew the dracomis could
easily kill them both, he also knew that the dracomis knew that.
Hopefully though he didn't decide to call her bluff. Or wouldn't
care to. Rheuben could smell the blood still flowing from his
sisters back. If only he had taken the time to find out if this
guy was more friend than foe the moment he had stumbled upon
him. He turned to Kya. "I love you sis, but you are in no
position at the moment to be making threats. But in the same
thought." He turned to the dracomis. "Neither am I."
He leaned his sister back against a pole and brushed Vince from
his lap with the part of his arm that wasn't bloodied up. His
throat hurt from the chain, but he didn't allow the Dracomis or
his sister to see it. "I'm sorry sir. It was rude. I was in a
bit of a blind rage. This is my sister, and I just had to kill
the man that tried to kill her. Over what I'm assuming is some
stale bread." He pointed to the bread that he had dropped in all
the frenzy. "Perhaps we could work together to do what you had
set out to do to , save her. And in return we could share some
of the bread we have. It's not much, but it is all we have.
Afterwards we can part friends. Nothing needs to get nastier
than it already has today. " It was way too much conversation
for his comfort. He didn't like cowering like a dog over this
either, but his sisters life was at stake. She was worth
sacrificing his pride over. While yes the bread was something
they really couldn't afford to share at the moment, his sisters
life was well worth going hungry for. He listened to both
Raithe and Vince before leaning over and whispering what Vince
said to Kya. (Added for Kya's benefit with her post. xD)
