How would you define Diana's voice compared to other Motown
ladies. Is it soul or pop?

Being someone who sees and hears a big overlap between "Soul"
and "Pop", and doesn't like to draw a clear line between the
two, I can only answer the question with ... Yes!! :)
Ms Ross's vocal style is definitely more "lightweight" than
(say) Gladys Knight, Yvonne Fair or Blinky Williams IMHO, but I
would say she is no more "lightweight" than (say) Wanda Rogers,
Brenda Holloway or Syreeta.
I think the best way to describe her voice is "unique", but then
I'd say that about Gladys Knight, Blinky Williams, Yvonne Fair,
Wanda Rogers, Brenda Holloway and Syreeta as well.
