       That Spector Sound

Phil Spector influenced so many song-writers and producers. This
one is a favourite of a chum of mine, who celebrates his
birthday this week. Play it loud:-

Great song Eric. This is possibly by fav Spector production and
it's a later one too from '74. It has everything thrown in
including the kitchen sink! More drama than you can shake a
       stick at.

Not sure if I'd ever heard "Boys Town" before SWI, though having
just watched some of the TV programmes that were on this week
"moving to boys town" doesn't seem such a great idea.
I think that when it comes to Spectoresque tunes it's difficult
to top the Righteous Brothers "Soul & Inspiration" … funnily in
Britain it is virtually forgotten, though back in The US in '66
it was a bigger hit than "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" was
       the year before!!

Oh sorry Eric, you meant wall of sound type records. I'll stick
       with Cher.

This was Brian Wilson's attempt to write a song for the
       Ronettes.

Phil took the song and adapted it to be used as a public service
       song

The much maligned flop 'Run, Run. Run' which was never released
in the UK was said to be a Spector rip-off but I never thought
       of it as such!

John, I love RUN RUN RUN and I think it has a bit of a Crystals
       feel to it.
John Madara and Dave White produced a few Spector-influenced
       gems.

Having worked with Spector, and then recording in the same
studio with the same musicians was a huge influence on the work
of Sonny & Cher, Nino Tempo and others.
Here, Sonny & Cher take on a Ronettes tune:-
