Theatre Blind Dates!

I truly believe that everyone in this theatre community is
interesting and worth getting to know. However, I'll be honest
and say that I don't really know how to start. I'm the person
who goes to a theatre party/fundy and stands in the corner
because I don't know how to join a group conversation,
especially one involving strangers or just acquaintances. The
extreme extroversion of most theatre majors can be slightly
intimidating.
There are so many people in this theatre community who I admire
as artists and would like to get to know one-on-one. And there
are so many people in this theatre community that I don't know
yet, even though I'm sure they're worth knowing.
What if I (we?) started a theatre "blind date" service? People
could be matched more-or-less at random and then go out for
coffee (or whatever) and just get to know each other. Maybe talk
a bit about what influences you as theatre artists, about
memorable theatrical experiences, about your artistic and
academic goals, etc. I think it could be a great way to make new
friends and find new collaborators. (Kind of like the Dinner
With 10 Strangers idea, but on a more personal level.) Who would
be interested in participating? Do you have any ideas as to how
it could work?

I think this sounds like a wonderful idea. It's so easy to stick
with the first group of people that you gel with on campus and
then not branch out as much after that, even though we'll end up
working with most people in some capacity at one time or
another. This would be a great way to stir things up, strengthen
our community, and find new potential for artistic collaboration
(and maybe even meet ~*~*~hot sexy singles in your area~*~*~).
