So,, I've got this 88 LT250R rolling chassis i had bought.. I've also got a nice 87+ bottom end with a fresh crank and fresh trans bearings........ but the 88 frame was cut and redone to accept the 85/86 engine. Well, i would have to cut this frame anyway to put the spare motor i got in it. And while I'm at it I figured I'll go ahead and replace the complete cradle, all new tubing from the lower mount forward and up the downtube,,, and do a Tecate-3 front clip while I'm at it. My plan is to have the 86 ATC250R rake angle with an 85 Tecate-3 front end because theres not enough room on the frame to mount side saddle style radiators. . So thats it. I let the secret out. A few people already know about it and may mess with me for telling already (lol). I cant wait to get this thing built. I literally have everything for the Suzuki half of this build except for a top end. I already need to get one for my 87 so i will buy 2 when i can. Alright, lets all hope this goes well!! #Post#: 25020-------------------------------------------------- Re: Quite a different front clip swap By: Dangerouspower Date: August 22, 2013, 1:25 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Hope it turns out well for ya! D? #Post#: 25021-------------------------------------------------- Re: Quite a different front clip swap By: Chuckie25 Date: August 22, 2013, 2:51 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Ok so apparently, thanks to a fella on another site, needing to know the Honda rake is unimportant because the trail is what's more important. I was planning to match the front geometry of the 86 Honda for this one but I guess that plan is changed now. #Post#: 25028-------------------------------------------------- Re: Quite a different front clip swap By: pcs Date: August 22, 2013, 5:43 pm --------------------------------------------------------- start chopping already! #Post#: 25031-------------------------------------------------- Re: Quite a different front clip swap By: 1986quadracer Date: August 22, 2013, 5:57 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Nice. That measurement will be easier to take. Now if someone can take if off an atc250r while with some weight on it? Please! It is just a simple little measurement. Just try and imagine a t-3 front end on it lmao I did this with Microsoft paint. I only use the best of the best for frame design B) LMFAO This will mostly be a play/trail bike. More than likely will turn some laps on our practice tracks (dirt oval) and maybe at an mx track if they would let me. #Post#: 25045-------------------------------------------------- Re: Quite a different front clip swap By: Iceracer Date: August 22, 2013, 8:49 pm --------------------------------------------------------- Chuckie. I have been wanting to do this for a while just havent gotten to it. Loose the whole box on the back tube its sheet metal and not very stiff. Also the two tubes that come forward there of no value at all. Here's the questions What fuel tank you gona use trying for Suzuki theme? Older RM ? Or just steal a early black Tecate tank, Honda R? Radiator style. Early Tecate easy or dual rads? Its all going to dictate how you position the triple tree and head set. The trick lower engine setup would be to bend a single tube with the pipe loop in it andtie it into the single drop that's there now. Just a couple Ideas I had. A possibility for fuel tank is also a early yz 250 83 -87 era if you like square and 88 ish to keep the body style. #Post#: 25048-------------------------------------------------- Re: Quite a different front clip swap By: Kyle T Date: August 22, 2013, 9:19 pm --------------------------------------------------------- How's this?
