It seems that I can't remove the LED MPCB of the Convoy C8
without damaging it so I went ahead and 'marinated' it in
gasoline together with the pill (I removed the driver). I guess
if I'm successful in dedoming the original C8 LED, the resulting
tint will be similar to 5C, a bit warmer. If the gasoline also
removed the bond of the Fujic glue then I'll replace the LED
with the dedomed LED from RaceR86's package because I like the
       3C (Neutral White) tint more.
I also placed the LED MPCB of my K40 together with the C8 pill.
If I'm successful in dedoming the K40 LED then the result should
be Neutral White. I didn't know that the MPCB of the K40 is
copper. I now realize that it should be that way because the LED
is pushed to more that 1100 lumens hence at least 5A current.
I don't wan't to risk the bottle containing the gasoline falling
into the hands of my little boy so I placed the bottle in a safe
place. I'll observe the results tomorrow as its already past
       midnight here. :)

Hi Jojo, sounds like it's all coming along absolutely great so
far, it's quite satisfying when you reflow your first emitter...
those things always look so much bigger in pics :D
I don't know what type of fujik is on there but it sounds like
some badass stuff if you can't pull the MCPCB away. Good idea
with the gasoline though - that should shift it for sure!
Thanks for sharing your escapades, it's great reading so far!

       Thanx Sapmod.
I just checked the bottle containing the 'marinate' and the dome
of the C8 LED is already gone though there still are some
remnants left. The dome of the K4 LED is still intact so I'll
just leave them there. Its only 7 hours since I dunked them
there and from what I read, I need 12-24 hours. Looking good so
       far... :)

I have finished re-installing the dedomed LEDs to my Convoy C8 &
my K40 and the results are just awesome!
I have 2 Convoy C8s. All of them are SMO T8 3C and one was
dedomed. Here are their beams taken moments ago. I’m using a
       Nikon Coolpix S710 set at ISO 100 1/60 F6.7:

The dedomed C8 has a warmer temperature and a smaller & more
intense hot spot. It also throws like a stock K40.
I added the dedomed K40 to the 2 C8s are here’s their beam
shots. I was awed by the dedomed C8 but I was totally blown away
       by the dedomed K40.

My plan for the weekend was not followed. Instead of doing the
basic LED & driver replacements, I proceeded with reflowing and
dedoming LEDs and I am very happy with the results. And thanx to
you guys! I couldn't have done it without your encouragement.
       :)

I have GOT to dedome some LEDs!! 8)
Great job, Jojo! Properly applied Fujik can be a real bear to
pop free. I always use Fujik under my MCPCBs and when I do need
to replace them it's a bugger. I try to get as large a straight
blade screwdriver into the gap at the edge of the star as
possible then apply steady lateral pressure on the star. It
really does help to will the star to free up as once I do that
the fujik always seems to release it's hold. The key is
constant relentless pressure. The Fujik will give up before the
       steel does. ;)

       yet ?

       Thanx guys! :)
I'll bear that in mind on my next project JohnnyMac. I did not
push through with replacing the C8's MPCB when I still can't
remove it after marinating it overnight. Gasoline doesn't seem
       to soften the Fujik's grip.
Yes Spasmod I tried it outside. The dedomed C8's beam profile is
similar to, though not as strong as the stock K40's. Too bad I
can't take a good outside beam shot comparing it with the stock
C8 & K40 because its raining hard and my K40 is no longer stock
either. The dedomed K40 is just awesome. Its beam profile is
more evident and it throws about 20% farther than the stock.
I'll be out on a 1 week trip starting this afternoon and I can't
bring all my lights and my equipment with me. I hope to get a
good outside beam shot and continue with my mod projects when I
       return.

If your trying to remove the led from the star, try putting it
in the freezer for an hour and it may prise off with a small
       screw driver. Good luck.

       Oh that's new! :o
I'll try that on my next mod project. I'm planning to replace
the dedomed LED of my K40 with an XM-L2, dedomed also.
       Thank you MRsDNF! :)

       Have a safe trip Jojo,
Great news about the K40 especially, in fact I broke out and
dusted off the TN31 just for a shine around after reading this
       :) (any excuse)
I had no idea the Fujik was such tough stuff to remove.. dang!
