By: relic38 Date: July 9, 2013, 12:06 am --------------------------------------------------------- I recently discovered that my NiMH charger was not always completely charging my cells. This had me believing the cells themselves were toast. I did a charge and discharge cycle on my hobby charger and they all test just fine. So, I'm looking for the best budget four-bay NiMH charger. It can be a dedicated NiMH charger, or a combo that also charges Li-Ion cells. The Li-Ion part is a bonus, not required at all (most of my cells are 4.30V charge). I have heard real good things about the I4 v2 and the JetBeam Pro version. HKJ has done some great reviews, which I will be perusing as well. Thanks in advance! #Post#: 1698-------------------------------------------------- Re: What is the Best Budget NiMH charger? I like the feature set of this one, and the price isn't overly expensive for what you get (only found at FT so far). The ability to do a capacity test on four cells at once is nice. Will help with matching for multi-cell lights. #Post#: 1699-------------------------------------------------- Re: What is the Best Budget NiMH charger? By: MRsDNF Date: July 9, 2013, 12:24 am --------------------------------------------------------- From memory the l4 has had some people reporting that certain NiMH batteries get extremely hot. I have had a AA/AAA dedicated Sony charger I've used for the last I don't know how many years. Some batteries get hot in it but never had a problem. It is used constantly and some batteries would off had at least 500 charges put through them. Its not to much help for you though. Im a believer that it does not matter what you need in life something made for a specific purpose is going to work better than something that tries to do more than one thing. I just did a search and this looks identical to mine even though mine is years old. By: relic38 Date: July 9, 2013, 7:22 am --------------------------------------------------------- Thanks MRsDNF, I have reservations about the I4 anyway. That Sony looks nice, but a bit pricey, and comes with non-LSD cells. I totally agree, a good dedicated NiMH charger is what I am after. So far, it's the SH-168DLCD as top pick. I also read a little bit about MAHA-9000 being a great charger, but it is pricey as well. My Accucel 6 seems to consistently charge my NiMH cells to capacity. Has anyone tried charging NiMH in series on a hobby charger? Will they come out balanced somehow? *****************************************************
