Sadly, it is not an opinion, but a fact.

As Internet access in Russia and other countries worldwide becomes more 
affordable, Fidonet will die the same slow, agonizing death it's been 
experiencing in Z1 for several years now. Sadly, the powers that be will 
probably never realize that their own demagoguery only served to accelerate the 
freefall of Fidonet in Z1.

I hope Russia doesn't have to experience such a spectacle. It was sad enough to 
have to see it happen here!
