In the case of fidonet the old standard is to send a netmail to the NC from a temporary address like 1:123/9999. I have recieved applications like that even recently but if you can get a hold of the NC by other means like email that should work as well. I don't mind how folks get a hold of me for a node, email, netmail or phone.. it's all good!
