Never mind, I found it... the thing that was throwing me off was DO NOT set
the PYTHONHOME or PYTHONPATH env vars... this caused some really weird
errors...

The simple answer was set the config -> General settings -> Python Library to
the installed libpythonXX.so.1.0 file and use the GY/GZ action in the menu
for a given command...

It even just magically allows you to use the 'mystic_bbs' module without
installing it on the machine... so, all is well...
