Yeah, I have similar concerns with a BBS :) I run mine in a cloud VPS for this specific reason.

I'm pretty opposed to the idea of opening up my home firewall. Even if I had some kind of BBS VLAN, it would still be me allowing external connections into my home, which is simply something I am not a fan of.
