Most, if not all of what you mention above, seems fairly standard in any Linux distribution (or am I missing something?). I was merely wondering about the check for the specific distro and version number, and what it would possibly be used for. I guess I was just wondering if it would be easier performing the proper checks on the locations of the files it needs to modify, rather than checking for the specific distro name and version number. I just have no idea whether or not the actual distro name and version number are used in MBSE itself, or if it is just a set variable displayed to the sysop when running SETUP.sh, which would then give reason as to why that check is performed.
