It's the old story about the "Frog in the Post".  We allowed it to happen,
slowly, over decades.  Each erosion was almost imperceptable.  The ones that
noticed we labeled "conspircy theorists" or "alarmists".

You got that right.  But people are fighting back.  The current demand to
eliminate property taxes, for example.  They are selling it correctly this
time.  "I paid for it.  Why do I have to pay the gov't to keep it?"  "Why am I
renting the land I paid for from the gov't?"
