If I recall the pope recently poked his head into the Transgender stuff.

I  understand sometimes the pope, and other religious leaders do ... The Bible came before the constitution.  

I understand if a church wasn't to feed people and what not.  They need to stay the eph out of politics.

If they are preaching the existence of God they'd be better off just telling their congregation to pray.

Because, according to Christian belief, God answers prayers.
