Twentieth Arrondissement CROSSWORD HERE *** Paris and Film Some streets and places in Paris are named after actors (for example Gerard Philipe and Louis Jouvet) but directors are very badly served. No Jacques Becker, no Rene Clair, no Jean Vigo, no georges Melies, none have a street in Paris. The only streets I have been able to find which even concern cinematographic personalities are Leon Gaumot, a pioneer of its exploitation, Louis Lumiere, Inventor of cinema, Emile Reynaud, a precursor of animation, and two authors amongst whose multiple activities was in the domain of cinema: Sacha Guitry (who shares on with his dad) and Jean Cocteau, who has a small street in the 18th between the boulevard Ney and the periphery. Seven streets are named after directors: they are rues Broca, Chabrol, Charlot, Clement, Duvivier, Truffaut and Visconti. Everyone knows that Broca was a surgeon and anthropologist. What were the professions of the other six? Mnemotechnies The following four series, strange may they be, are certainly so familiar that you never even think about them. And so useful (!) for moving around. 1. G M G B I A I A C R C A N C N A L T S A B T N 2. E S L G B B N M S M D S P M K J B L V 3. C M I K V F G C M W H F 4.
