I believe you're free to install gcc (if it isn't there already) and use it like any other *nix system. At least, I would think so, considering OS X is basically BSD at the core. I think WxWidgets is a pretty good library, although some aspects remind me of Microsoft's MFC (which isn't necessarily a good thing).
