I learned pascal while attending North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC
, USA.

I used Turbo/Borland pascal on personal machines but the university used SAGE
p-systems I think.

Here is an interesting discussion of pascal history. Did not know it was used
in development of Apollo operating system Aegis.

I see reading some posts, that there is now a free pascal.
