Many games from Steam and Epic have the Steam or Epic launchers as runtime dependencies, for example. Many of those games also need some sort of online validation in order to run. In this regard, the PCGamingwiki is a good place to visit in order to learn if you download is self-sufficient. I don t buy many games anymore, but when I do I tend to pick Zoom-platform or Gog games just because they are guaranteed to be runnable completely off-grid.
